Plateria, a good hotel in Ecija, a city to visit

Bon rapport qualité-prix

A value-for-money hotel in a gem of a town

Posted Apr 29, 2014
Right in the middle of Ecija, the hotel could not be better placed - or be a better bargain. Ecija tends to be a town you stop at on the way to somewhere else, as it was for us and our dog. But it is a town that deserves to be a destination, worthy of at least a three night stay. It is chock full of history and its churches in particular - 11 in the centre of town alone! - are glorious essays in baroque art. Santa Maria, San Juan and the far less well known Carmelite church are the gems. Various manor houses are also worth visiting but one of the pleasures of the town is simply to walk the narrow mediaeval alleys. Once past the outskirts, the main centre of the town is extraordinarily well kept and the buildings impeccably maintained in keeping with the town's heritage. Restaurants are not expensive and it's well worth trying the local cuisine like Gata Sopa (cat soup - but anything less like its name cannot be found anywhere - is a really tasty mix of vegetables and meat plus a egg). The hotel is perfect for exploring Ecija - clean and surprisingly sizeable rooms, very pleasant and helpful staff, breakfast is fine (but, unless you can't afford to, go elsewhere for dinner). And a real bargain price. Worth much more than its star rating.

Nice staff, hotel needs a revamp though and could do with water above warm. Ecija worth a visit due to some lovely architecture.
