Won't go there again.

Posted Oct 16, 2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: Everything and what galls the most is that it is not cheap and considered a four star. It is not worth the money.
Location: Lot of restaurants, magnificent view of Edinburgh castle at night from the window. Close to castle, Royal Mile and museums.
It is very conveniently placed and has a parking garage attached, both good things. Our hotel room was very old, and was for three people. You could barely move in there and the bathroom was tiny. There was a smell that came from the room adjoining ours which was the janitor room and it was cleaning fluid. There are steps up from the lobby so when you are bringing in suitcases, you fend for yourself. The Apex City down the street looked much more inviting. You also heard the rabble in the street below until 2am as well, singing as they apparently came out of the establishments.

Good View.

Posted Sep 27, 2014
Pros: The view and the area it is situated in.
Cons: The professionalism of the restaurant staff, and the decor in the rooms could do with beingoverhauled.
Location: Situated in the Grassmarket, close to the castle and the Royal Mile.
This hotel has a lovely view of the castle, especially from the fifth floor restaurant. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed the week we were there, as it was being used as the press and media centre for the Scottish referendum, a fact that was not mentioned on their web site. The rooms are comfortable and clean, but nothing special, and the towels are changed everyday. The bar food is good, if slightly expensive, and breakfast as usual was excellent. I was disappointed that the serving staff at breakfast were sometimes bordering on rude, and not as professional as in previous years. Even though I have stayed at this hotel regularly during the last ten years, I would think twice about staying there again in the future.

Best of Experiences

Pros: Everything
Location: The Castle, The White Hart Inn, St. Giles Cathedral, Scott Monument, Stirling Castle, on and on and on.....just come here already!
This was our second stay in Edinburgh. The first time we stayed elsewhere, out in the Haymarket area. Nice enough, but nowhere nearly as nice as the Apex, where our friends stayed. We vowed to stay here upon our return and we were not disappointed. The staff were lovely, the location perfect and the atmosphere fantastic. The views from the rooms were great and the view from the fifth floor dining room was breathtaking, with a fantastic view of the castle. Stay here when you are in Edinburgh, you won't be disappointed!

Great location!

Posted Sep 21, 2014
Pros: The location was the best!
Cons: The staff at the breakfast - possibly not enough staff or undertrained? Noisy at night, but you can't control the students newly back to university!
Location: A short walk to the Royal Mile, fun shops nearby, good restaurants close.
We enjoyed this hotel in Edinburgh. The more we explored our neighborhood the more we found to experience. The staff was very helpful with directions and reservations. The view out our window was breathtaking - the castle; up close and beautiful! We could walk to almost anything we wanted to see or do.

Great hotel, perfect location, lovely staff.

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: The staff always acknowledge you, are friendly and helpful without being intrusive.
Cons: I can't think of a thing.
Location: The location is perfect, in the Grassmarket within walking distance of all of Edinburghs main attractions, bars and restaurants.
Booked through Expedia and cheekily requested a room with a view of Edinburgh Castle but acknowledged that as it was Festival season and I wasn't paying "top dollar" my request was a non-starter. On arrival we were greeted by Peter on reception who was friendly, welcoming and informative and advised us that we'd got a free upgrade. Our room DID have a wonderful, large picture window with a perfect view of the Castle - we were thrilled. The room, itself, had everything the weary traveller would expect or could hope for and I can't recommend it highly enough. Rooms with the Castle view also overlook the Grassmarket which is a busy bar/restaurant area so naturally this gets a little noisy during the evening but the view was worth it and another little attention to detail by the hotel were the earplugs available in the room.
