Average hotel. Friendly staffPosted Nov 22, 2013
The staff were very friendly and the service was great. The room was clean however very dim and old fashioned.

Good locationPosted Nov 13, 2013
I booked a single room and was pleasantly surprised by the size. Whilst some of the common areas of the hotel are a little tired the room was comfortable are clean. Good position for where I needed to be and would stay again

Nice hotel, near pubs and shoppingPosted Oct 21, 2013
Location: Great location, on the doorstep of Leith Walk so close to restaurants and pubs. National Portrait Gallery and Royal Mile all with a few minutes walk.
The room was clean, very spacious and had all the amenities you would expect from hotels these days. The only down side was the room we had was backed on by a small car park and so had to close to curtain during the day so my girlfriend could confortably walk around the room in her towel after showering.

Close enough to the shopsPosted Sep 6, 2013
Pros: Staff Friendlyness, the room was kept beautiful and clean. Enjoyed the breakfast enough choice for all tastes.
Cons: Not as far as I am concerned
Location: Plenty to do, enough places to eat drink and shop until you drop
This was a couple of days break and thoroughly enjoyed it

Overall GoodPosted Sep 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Hotel was alright but needs an overhaul. If you are out an about the city, its not too much of an issue. Car parking was a pain and so was finding the hotel as the address that was provided on the booking was incorrect especially as if the city is new to you and there are massive road closures.

Great stay!Posted Sep 3, 2013
Pros: Staff, cleanliness, and location.
Cons: Nothing, I thought it was great.
Location: You can walk just about anywhere... castles, the royal mile, ghost tours, etc.
The room has an old scottish feel, but it is located is a great spot where you can walk just about anywhere. It is very close to the train station as well. Very clean and friendly staff!

Needs a paint and new showerPosted Aug 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
At first we were very happy with our room. It was done out really nice and had a huge 4 poster bed. The walls were starting to look pretty grubby and could just do with being painted to freshen it all up. The shower was shocking! The head was fixed into place really low down!!! And we are pretty short. And really poor pressure - it took ages to wash my hair. Throughout the night I kept being woken up. It was so loud! Any traffic going past you could hear. And for about an hour there was an alarm going off. I was not happy with this stay- especially with how much we paid for it.

convenient locationPosted Aug 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
comfortable enough hotel. difficult negotiating stairs though and I was located in a small room tucked away at the back of the hotel at basement level. It was difficult to get enough natural light into the room. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast adequate. Location convenient for centre of Edinburgh city and within easy walking distance of central attractions. Not sure about the 4 star rating though.
