“Loved it!!!”
Channings was even better than we hoped for. Everyone on the staff made us feel welcome, tending to our every request with good cheer. Scott, the general do-everything young man, was especially engaging and helpful. The public rooms are warm and lovely, the breakfast room much nicer than other hotels we've visited in Europe...but what we will remember most is the charm and helpfulness of the staff. The hotel is a healthy walk from town, but we loved the location. It was always a pleasure to return to Channings at the end of the day. I recommend this hotel very highly!
“Very charming; good location, great staff”
My girlfriend and I were looking for a nice place to stay for a long weekend away from London. The Channings Hotel provided a great base from which to explore the city. It is about 5-10min walk away from Prices Street. It is nicely quiet at night. The staff always went the extra mile and explained the multimedia system to us, got us a spare umbrella for the rain and generally always had a smile for us. A great place and I will definitely consider staying at the Channings again when visiting Edinburgh in the future.
“CHANNINGS”
VERY COMFORTABLE GREAT STAFF
“Lovely hotel, great staff”
I wasn't sure what to expect from the hotel but I was pleasantly suprised. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, the room was lovely, if not a bit on the small size and we were woken up a few times by noisy pipes in the radiator, but overall we loved staying here. The location is fantastic, only a short walk to Princes Street and various restuarants/bars etc. We would definately stay here again.
“Impressive”
Really comfortable hotel to stay in. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
“Will definitely revisit, an excellent Hotel in the perfect location”
This Hotel was perfect in location and style, all the staff were very helpful and the Hotel was very stylish. A fifteen minute walk takes you to Princes street which gives you access to all the main attractions. The Hotel was situated on a quiet residential street and had a cosy bar in the basement which did bar snacks or you could book the restaurant. The only fault of the Hotel if I had to be picky, would be that the bar staff was either over staffed or extreemly under staffed, didn't seem to know how to handle a busy period, although they were always polite etc.
“Our favorite hotel”
We took a trip to the UK and stayed in three different hotels, this was by far the best. Set on the top of the Hill in a nice residential area it has a great view and is just a nice quaint hotel. The rooms were decorated very nicely and there was plenty of room for my daughter and I. The bellman (he was more than that) walked us half way to town when I asked him directions. Breakfast was nice and the hotel was just roomy and the people were great. I would go there again in a hearbeat.
“Great Hotel”
Great comfy, quiet hotel.
“Great Staff!”
I recently stayed at Channings Hotel with my mother and I have to say that the staff were fabulous. Very efficient and friendly - going above and beyond the call of duty several times. The food was also great - we ate in the main restaurant the first night and in the bar on the subsequent 2 nights - each time enjoying a superb meal - lovely Merlot too! My only slight gripe would be the size of our room and the 'ok' bathroom - it was very clean and we had a small lounge area too, but it seemed disappointing compared to the rest of the Hotel - which was beautifully appointed. Never-the-less, I shall be returning with my partner next time, without a doubt, to continue my exploration of the wine list!
“Just fantastic!”
Everything was beyond my expectations. Location; neiborhood; breakfast+++; room; kindness. Also wifi, which was not advertised. I think I paid way less than what I received.
