Nice hotel close to the city

Posted Jun 8, 2015
Pros: We liked the luxurious feel of the hotel.
Cons: We would have loved to swim. Having a pool would make it an unbeatable hotel in the area.
Location: The hotel is right by the forth bridge. We took a ferry about a mile away from the hotel that went to inchcolm island which was a lot of fun.
We spent the weekend at Dakota. The hotel is modern and luxurious. You get a lot for your money at this hotel. The staff are very helpful and courteous. We enjoyed the hotel, restaurant and bar very much. We got to bring our dog which was great. It is in a great location right by the forth bridge. We drove a short way to catch the tram into the city. We would definitely come back.

Great hotel for airport

Posted Jun 7, 2015
Pros: Cool atmosphere, very helpful staff, beautiful rooms.
Location: Kind of far from anything to really do except a grocery store and a couple of restaurants.
Free shuttle Monday-Friday to airport. Very cool modern decor. Rooms large and comfortable. Just realize that this hotel is NOT in Edinburgh - it is in a suburb about a 20 min train ride plus a 15 min walk/short cab ride from Edinburgh Waverly. If you want a nice, clean, comfy place to stay with free airport transportation and handy large grocery right next door, it is the place for you! THey were super accomadating and even let me back in my room after I had checked out and found out my flight was delayed until late morning.

Excellent stay

Posted May 31, 2015
Pros: Room facilities, quiet.
Cons: The dark interior took a bit of getting used to and we didn't see the point of the large, and heavy, cushion on the bed.
Location: Visited Hopetoun House - very impressive. The bridges, old and new very interesting.
Enjoyed our stay at Dakota. Room facilities very good and bed very comfortable. Although the hotel was full it was quiet and the meal we had there was very good. All staff very pleasant indeed.

Hotel with a luxury feel!

Posted May 19, 2015
The hotel staff were excellent and helpful. Whilst I would say its not a hotel aimed at families rather more for couples, they did have highchairs in the restaurant and made up a small bed for our yr old son and offered us an early booking for dinner. The room was lovely and had a large comfy bed. Would definitely go back.

Swish hotel within reach of EDinburgh city centre

Posted May 4, 2015
Pros: The decor and ambience.
Cons: Choice at breakfast
Location: We were there for a family party but did manage to get into Edinburgh the following morning quite easily.
This was just a one night stay in Edinbrpurgh for a family occasion and wanted somewhere close to Barton. From the outside I felt a little dubious but my fears were allayed as I stepped through the door into a reception area with a very special ambience. The staff were very smartly dressed, efficient and interested in your welfare. It was not to have a room which was not the usual beige, cream or white. Very comfortable bed a good size, comfy pillows and accessible lighting.Above all was the quality of the bathroom- a walk in shower so you did not have to climb into a bath; lovely soft towels on a warm towel rail and quality toiletries of a decent size. A very pleasant experience.

Ideal hotel for relaxing or meetings.

Posted Apr 29, 2014
Pros: It 's the attention to detail and taking care of the small things. That seems to make the calm atmosphere where everything appears to run smoothly.
Cons: Perhaps a little more lighting in the area in the bedrooms where jackets are hung.
Location: The Dakota is not far from the M90, the Forth Bridge , South Queensferry with boat trips. Easy access to Edinburgh Airport.
Our second stay at this hotel and, as with our previous visit, we were immediately made to feel very welcome and 'did we need a help with our luggage?' . It was easy to relax in the calm, spacious surroundings and this also applied in the Grill. The friendly, professional staff were attentive to just the right degree so we felt comfortable. The food in the Grill was beautifully cooked and the desserts lovely!

Pros: Most comfortable bed we have used in a hotel, including a 5-star and many good quality chains.
Location: Near enough to Edinburgh and convenient for the airport.
