A great hotel with a luxe modern vibePosted Dec 11, 2012
Pros: The Andrew Martin inspired interior design
Cons: Next to the motorway, couldn't hear the traffic overly but not a brilliant view.
Location: It was close to the airport and next door to Tesco and Frankie and Benny's
We were collected form the airport by complimentary shuttle service (a lovely touch). The hotel had a very atmospheric design, moody lighting and dark colours. Room was spacious and well appointed with a lovely bathroom. Staff very helpful indeed. Did not taste the food.

Excellent hotel, well worth a visitPosted Oct 16, 2012
Pros: Comfortable room with upmarket finish.
Location: Perfect for the traveller, perhaps alittle far out for taxis into Edinburgh
Stopped overnight in the hotel and really can't praise it enough. The location of the motorway is perfect for travel the next day and the hotel itself was very comfortable with great service. Will be staying there or sister hotels again!

Dakota DelightsPosted Jul 3, 2012
Staff were very helpful and courteous. Excellent value for money and very well located to see the sights of the Capital city or the countryside in any direction you may choose.

Handy for flights leaving Edinburgh airportPosted Jun 1, 2012
Pros: Free shuttle to airport
Location: Good location for airport, easy to find from the motorway. Gas station and restaurants nearby as well as a grocery store, if needed.
The Dakota is very handy when flying out of Edinburgh as it is one of the few hotels that offers a free shuttle service. Since the Dakota is obviously more of a businessperson's hotel, I was surprised there was no facility to print boarding passes, although the reception desk printed them for me after I emailed the passes to them. The shuttle bus drivers were friendly (we used the shuttle twice). The hotel was very modern and had nice decor but the carpeting in the hall to the elevators/conference rooms looked as though it needed replacing or a really good cleaning.

The perfect night cap for our day.Posted Mar 28, 2012
Pros: Good service, excellently appointed. Quiet.
Cons: Initial conversation with hotel staff on booking was coarse and not very welcoming. Appreciate it may have been one person having a bad day!
Location: Nomansland, but the outside fades away to nothing. Hotel very cleverly works despite its poor location.
On first impressions the location has always killed it for me, smack bang in the middle of a retail park and near a very busy road. The brand though is well delivered in the sleek black exterior and my wife and I's curiosity has been steadfast despite many passings on the road. The minute you step through the curtain adorned entrance time seems to move that little bit slower. Your met with calm and hip, well appointed reception area. Outside quickly disappears. We spent the night there after our Wedding at Hopetoun House, the only reason we would stay somewhere so close to home to be honest, but we we're very glad we did so. After a fantastic busy day we floated through the curtains, only to be asked to take a very comfortable seat on one of many large sofas and a glass of Proseco each was brought to us. A really nice touch, and offered us the perfect moment to reflect. The room was well appointed and again the staff had made an effort first upgrading us to a Junior Suite and second sprinkling rose petals on the bed. The little things do count. There was no bath which was a little disappointing, but in reality it was not needed and the shower was top notch. We took breakfast which at first glance seemed a little pricey, but again the quality was there to be enjoyed. A full buffet of fresh fruit, cereal and yoghurts bhouyed further by a few cooked breakfast classics to be ordered from the menu. We would definitely recommend it, but only if a convenient stopover.

Well run hotelPosted Feb 14, 2012
Cons: No baths. I hate showers
Lovely hotel i've not given full marks because it didn't have any baths only showers, i didn't know this when i booked. We also had some boiler noise in the ceiling and i informed reception when i checked out. Don't let this put you off its very well run hotel.
