A taste of Scotland in the most evocative setting

The quality of the cuisine and the unique setting make dining at Dalhousie Castle anything but ordinary. It is the perfect setting for a traditional Scottish Banquet.

Descending the worn flags of an ancient stone stairway you are ushered into the barrel vaulted dungeons. The atmosphere is heightened by the play of dramatic shadows across the rough hewn stone work, and the burnished steel of the weapons and armour that adorn the walls. It is hard to imagine a more evocative setting than the Dungeon Restaurant in which to enjoy excellent traditional Scottish Castle cuisine that features fresh local produce such as Salmon, Venison, Grouse and prime Scottish Beef.

The Orangery, with its sweeping views over the gently flowing River Esk, offers a more informal environment plus a lighter and more contemporary menu. Again the cuisine is primarily Scottish, but with Continental influences.

A land for adventure

Dalhousie Castle is in an enviable position for those of an active disposition.

Archery and clay pigeon shooting is available within the castle grounds, whilst game shooting and horse riding is available nearby. With a falconry mews within the Castle grounds, guests can gain firsthand experience in the ancient art of falconry. Falconry displays never fail to entertain and enthrall guests and hawk walking is a magical way to see the countryside whilst handling and flying the birds.

In the immediate vicinity of the Castle there are many attractions of Edinburgh, only 20 minutes from the Castle, allowing guests to enjoy the very best of both rural retreat and all that Scotland's capital city has to offer.

Nearby the renowned championship golf courses and coastline of East Lothian are worth a visit, as are the hills and beautiful countryside of the Scottish borders.

Mind and body, relaxed and rejuvenated

In medieval times, life at Dalhousie Castle would have been anything but stress free, but now all that has changed with the introduction of what was Scotland’s very first hydro spa.

For the ultimate in relaxation, we have created The Spa at Dalhousie Castle, a hydro spa, the first of its kind in Scotland. The Spa at Dalhousie Castle combines relaxing and therapeutic spa treatments with the invigorating and rejuvenating hydro facilities. These include everything from the Hydro Pool, with its multi-massage jet pool, to the Rasul, a small chamber in which you apply mud to give your body and mind a cleanse, and from the Ottoman, a Turkish style steam bath, to the Tropical Rain & Cold Fog Shower which gently refreshes your senses and invigorates your body.

You can benefit from a wide choice of therapeutic and beauty treatments that range from complete exfoliating and moisturising.
