Prime location

Very impressed with the location, room, size of room and the quality of it.Yes it is above a pub and the function room of the pub is below the room which could have bands, DJs, theme nights however the sond proofing is good and you didnt hear the music that much. The service was excellent and I would definatley stay again. The breakfast hit the spot and with CCTV in the hallway the rooms were very safe and secure. We needed something fixed within the room and this was done very quickly. For the price paid excellent value for money

A pub with 4 rooms to rent.

Posted Aug 27, 2012
Fiddler's Elbow is not a hotel in the normal sense of the word-- it is an old pub with 4 rooms upstairs. Our room was obviously modernized recently, but some "quaint" features remain. No AC, but the windows do open. No elevator, so get used to stairs. Also, you're upstairs from a pub that is famous for live music, so expect some noise. Given all that, we had a great time and would stay here again.

Good Location Friendly Staff and fair price

The Fiddlers Elbow does not pretend to be a five star and for the price we did not expect too much. The pub plays host to local bands and the bar is open until the wee hours so we did not expect to get too much sleep either. However the rooms are well equipped nicely decorated and well sound proofed. The location is a 5 mins walk to Princess Street around 10 to the Royal mile, staff are very friendly if a little laid back. The breakfast is hearty and of a good standard. We only had the one night but would be happy to stay there again.

Excellent location. Great staff. Great price. OK food- much better around the corner on Broughton street. Would definitely come back-as long as we had a room at the back. Ask for room 3.

Fiddler's Elbow - A Gem of a B&B

Posted Jan 12, 2012 on Hotels.com
This is a truly charming property right in the very center of Edinburgh, opposite the shopping mall and just a couple of minutes walk from Waverly Station. The staff were very accomodating to my requests of an early checkout and plates and cutlery so I could eat my own food in my room at dinner. My room was well proportioned and the bathroom was huge! The only down sides worth mentioning are that all the bedrroms are accessed by lots of very steep stairs and one morning I had to wait 40 minutes for my breakfast (probelms in the kitchen I was told, and was offered plenty of free coffee in the meantime). As a regular visitor to Edinburgh I have stayed in many places but from now on I will be happy to stay at The Fiddler's Elbow.
