Excellent location, affordable price.Posted Dec 15, 2014
Pros: Comfortable bed + pillow, shower, heating, in-room coffee, reliable internet, clever decor.
Location: Easy to access Grassmarket, Royal Mile, Princes Street, Calton Hill, and more.
Needed a simple base of operations for a short weekend in Edinburgh. Grassmarket is such a good springboard for the city center and this hotel is precisely what I was looking for. Location, amenities, price -- all three fit the bill. Comfortable bed, easy to use shower, and fast-acting room heater (it was freezing while I was in Edinburgh). The front desk staff was helpful and friendly. The internet was fast enough to catch up on a little work when I had to check on a pressing project. I've seen mention of noise from the street -- and to be honest, there was some sound seepage into my second floor room. But I also stayed in the Grassmarket area and expected a little liveliness. If anything, it inspired me to quickly get back out there and enjoy the city while I could. I will be back.

Good locationPosted Dec 7, 2014
No TV remote and kettle broke during stay. Room clean and spacious though noisy as directly above bar. We swapped parking token for NCP, which is only five minute walk away, with hotel reception allowing us to park 24 hours for £10. Breakfast very good.

Last minute bookingPosted Dec 4, 2014
This was a last minute booking and couldn't have turned out better. We were located right in the middle of everything. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The arrangement with the pub next door for breakfast was handy. I can't say enough good things about Grassmarket Hotel.

Perfect Location, Great Staff. Cosy RoomPosted Nov 30, 2014
Pros: Location was perfect!
Cons: The price and or room size.
Location: As per my experience, the location was perfect, in fact you could not do better in Edinburgh. It overlooks the Castle. Enough said! :)
You could not pick a better location in Edinburgh, it's right in the centre of the old Town and takes minutes to get anywhere. The room was one of their cosy rooms which was tiny but awesome (room 206). The staff were really friendly and chatty and the reception even has board games you can play. Highly recommend the hotel, shame the price was so steep (for the size of the room) at £118 a night, but the location, staff and funky-factor made up for it.

Leuk hotel in een nog leukere buurt.Posted Nov 22, 2014
Pros: Moderne ingerichte kamer.

A really great few daysPosted Sep 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
I booked in to The Grassmarket after seeing that it was a bit different design wise it didn't disappoint. The girls on reception were very helpful all throughout my stay and as I was there on a sightseeing trip the hotel's location was just perfect. Overall the hotel was very quirky and cool, all the tiny details in the room were a pleasant surprise and it was immaculately clean. Breakfast in the bar next door is a bit unusual but it was very tasty, a good selection of food on offer and didn't smell like the morning after!! Tunnocks tea cakes are now my favourite too...

Great place in a great spotPosted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: Location, service, cleanliness.
Cons: Nothing that I could note.
I was lucky to get a room upgrade when I checked in. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a view of the Grassmarket Square goings on--very entertaining, particularly in the evening. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Scotland that is not an early-to-bed type (the pubs below are noisy, but not too much so).
