Good Small hotel.Posted Sep 7, 2014
Stayed in single room for 2nights. Staff very friendly and helpful. Got a good nights sleep. Great British breakfast, just how I like . Itthink a good value small hotel., nice old building, well run and friendly Just a couple of comments that guest should be aware of 1 there is no lift, so getting luggage up,steep stairs could be difficult for some. 2 Americans may find the rooms on the small side.

Good hotel near the heart of Edinburgh.Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Wifi and ethernet connections were available. Friendly owners and staff. Cleanliness, meals, and location.
Cons: It's not designed for those with disabilities unfortunately. Also stairs are steep and narrow. Be careful with your luggage.
Location: Location is close to a large park and the heart of Edinburgh including the castle and palace. Taxis are available. The staff can call a cab for you.
The hotel is a cozy place run by a very friendly couple with a adorable dog who tolerates strangers petting it. The place is small compared to the major international hotel chains but they're not in direct competition with them so the comparison is moot. The couple and staff were extremely helpful and will go out of their way to help you and your friends if it's within their power as they did with us when one of our friends couldn't squeeze into our room and they had no other vacancies. They managed to help her with getting into another hotel nearby which was almost miraculous as the Edinburgh Festival was going on at the time and hotel rooms were hard to come by. They offer a breakfast menu which is both to order and a small buffet that is mostly continental breakfast items. We enjoyed their breakfasts every day and in the back we can also gaze out at their backyard. The rooms are small but clean and up to date. Wifi and ethernet connections are available. The hotel also has a small bar next to the front desk and you can order drinks any time. There are also two internet stations for those guests who need to use them in the bar area. My friends and I like this hotel with its friendly owners and staff. We definitely will use this one again if we go back to Edinburgh in the future.

Great little hotelPosted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: The friendly atmosphere combined with the quality of the rooms.
Cons: The only suggestion is that the coffee and tea at breakfast were both on the weak side although the breakfast itself was fabulous.
Hotel Ceilidh-Donia is located a couple miles from the downtown area of Edinburgh but an easy 10 minute bus ride to the core area. The hotel looks unimpressive when you see it but the inside is warm and welcoming with the rooms being rebuilt to modern standards and really clean and comfortable. However, most hotels meet this mark but what separates Ceilidh-Donia from others is that the owners and staff go out of the way to make your stay a good experience. The breakfast menu was better than any we had seen in the UK in a month of travelling plus there was a bar and snacks available for non-breakfast periods of the day. The hotel just felt like being in the home of good friends or family complete with the family golden retriever greeting you in the lobby.

Enjoyed our stay. Very clean. They have good breakfasts. Not too far to the bus stop. We stayed on bottom floor, so we didn't have to navigate the stairs. We would stay here again.

Nice clean Hotel and quiet neighbourhood.Posted May 20, 2014
Pros: Away from the city center and in a very nice, quiet neighbourhood with easy access to transportation. Owners were great and very friendly.
Cons: Not much I can say here.
Location: Location was very quiet. Arthur's Hill a short walk away as well as the pool. Great food and Pubs a short walk away too.
On arrival the owners were very pleasing to deal with and went out of their way to make you feel at home. Spent a total of four nights with them and it was a very enjoyable stay. Staff as well were nice and pleasant.

Great hotel!Posted Apr 27, 2014
Pros: Friendly, intimate, and extremely comfortable.
Cons: Not much!
Location: We stayed here to be close to our daughter's apartment, and it was a little far from central Edinburgh, but good bus service to downtown.
The hotel was awesome, the staff helpful and friendly, the food delicious, and the dog was terrific. We loved staying here for two weeks, while visiting our daughter.

Great folks running hotel. Two flights of stairs was a bit much for us. Ask for 1st floor room if you have that issue. Overall it was a fine place.
