“Fabulous location”

Fabulous location; 2 blocks from Waverly train station and tour bus terminal, walking distance to where pvt. tours leave. You can also walk across the small Waverly bridge to old town. Can walk to castle. A full service grocery store next door. Front rooms give a fantastic view of the Castle and old buildings, but noisy; ok for me, but if you are a light sleeper, 6 am may bit too early for you; delivery trucks come and sometimes a seagull convention! If you cannot lift your suitcase, be aware there are 4 steps to get up at the entrance. The reception area is the next level up. Breakfast standard, and good. Coffee and service great. Would stay again.

“Good Weekend Stay”

We had a room that overlooked Princes St. and a view of Edinburgh Castle that was very spacious by European standards and was comfortable. The bed was a little too stiff for my taste but otherwise it was fine. The bathroom was clean and fairly modern; the only downside was the hot and cold water came out of separate taps and the hot water was VERY hot . . . there was no way to cool it down if you wanted to wash your face or hands. Construction out on Princes St. didn't bother us at all - we were gone during the day and they didn't work at night. And it didn't prevent us from getting around the city at all. Good location and proximity to New and Old Town, plenty of pubs and restaurants in either direction to choose from. OH, and down the block at Waverly Station is the AirLink shuttle bus to the airport. It's a very cheap 6GBP for round trip and drops you off close to the hotel, 30 minute round trip and it definitely is cheaper than the taxi. Overall a very comfortable stay for a weekend trip.

“Rundown hotel, but in a great location!”

The hotel was quite old and not very well maintained. When we entered our room, there was a strong mildew smell which only dissipated slightly after opening all the windows. Not all the electrical plugs and lights worked. However, the location is great for sightseeing as it is on Princes Road and old town is just a short walk away as well as the train station.
