Quick but nice visit

Posted Nov 19, 2014
I wanted to treat myself to a nice hotel before flying to New York from Edinburgh airport. Upon my arrival I found the lobby to be modern, spacious and clean. Much to my delight I found the room to be the same. I went down to the bar for a beer and enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere. I planned on a taxi the next morning to the airport but was delighted to find the tram stop was less than one hundred yards away and less than a fifteen minute ride away. Perfect hotel, perfect location. Would be nice for a weekend break in Edinburgh.

Plenty of parking and useful for Heriot Watt Unive

Posted Nov 3, 2014
Stayed one night in October. Everything was ok but no more.Improvement could be made: cracked floor tiles in bathroom should be replaced, light shades in bathroom had dead flies in. Only one pillow provided as standard although extra pillows were sent up as soon as I rang for them. Charging £2.50 per bottle of water in the "mini bar" is excessive and penny pinching. It doesnt encourage return visits. Bath robes and slippers should be provided as standard in a 4 star hotel, not as an upgrade treat. As should complimentary drinking water. Breakfast was fine as it was included in our room rate . Staff were friendly. Ample parking. Close to Heriot Watt University. Nothing special.

Good for one night and bad for more. Noise carried

Posted Oct 29, 2014
Pros: Handy location for us, modern bathroom style, had pool if you wanted it (we didn't get a chance to use it due to our short stop.
Cons: Look at the air con temperature range. Noise can't be rectified as it is too late to put in more sound insulation between rooms.
Location: Near trams, on the outskirts of town so handy for the by-pass.
Had decent parking, location good for our purposes, had a pool and gym if you want it, staff helpful. Bathroom nice and clean. Bad bit: Uncomfortable pillows and bed. Room 301 Air con was the worst bit, it wouldn't go below 19 degrees which is too hot to sleep. If you cracked open the window (because it was right next to both the railway and tram lines) the noise of passing trains and trams was too much. It was noisy, so we turned it off but before long we were too cold. Also heard other guest's showers coming on in the morning so it wasn't a good night's sleep. I suppose it's the problem you get if you book a stay in a hotel which is made by craning in 'rooms' all connected to one air-con in a tower block. A lesson learnt to try and avoid this style of hotel if possible.

Convenient for airport.

Posted Oct 28, 2014
Affordable airport hotel but it's location is not otherwise pleasant, being in a retail park. The shower flooded after seconds. The restaurant was attractive with friendly staff but food was uninspiring and as such it was overpriced. Long queues for breakfast so I didn't bother. On plus side the beds were comfortable and the wifi was good.

Nice hotel but difficult to find

Posted Oct 12, 2014
Pros: Good facilities and nice staff. Not too expensive but I did not realise that breakfast was not included which was a shame as it was too expensive for
Cons: Make it easier to find
Location: I was working so did not explore
Had great difficulty getting to the hotel as the postcode sent me twice down a private road with barriers. I managed to get the chap to open the barriers for me but he was not happy I used both postcode and address but it misdirected me both times.

Personal item lost

Posted Oct 11, 2014
Pros: Very close to tram stop!
The staff is very reliable and honest. I accidentally left my wallet in the hotel bar and the staff found it and put In the safe and then contacted me by email. They contacted me before I even realized it was missing! Thank you Novotel!
