“Surprisingly impressive”
I was just looking for a hotel for a short night stay (late check in, early check out) as I am taking the train the next day from Waverley Station at 5.30am. My main objective a short walking distance the train station. However, I got more than just that! The hotel have a view of the castle as well as my room was situated right in front of the Scott Monument. The staff was friendly, the room was comfortable too.
“the only good thing here is convenience.”
It is a nice looking building but the entrance is too small with stairs going to the reception. It;s a hussle to carry all the luggage up the stairs and the lift never reach the ground floor. Needs to be upgraded
“Perfect location”
First time in Edinburgh. This hotel proved to be the best location, good value in an "old hotel - old city" environment. An unforgettable experience
“Great Location”
Great central location and good amenities.
“great edinburgh location”
The hotel was perfectly placed near the train station and a short walk to the Royal Mile. You had to climb up a flight of stairs to the lobby, but other than that there was an elevator to take you up to the other floors. The room was spacious and much more than what I would have expected. I will definitely consider staying at this hotel again if I ever go back to Edinburgh.
“Loved Old Waverly in Edinburgh”
I can't wait to go back to this beautiful, old and well-located hotel.
“Great hotel for the price”
The hotel was very good. Only issue was the window lock was broken and window was on the alley with fire escape right next to it. The hotel was clean and the food in the bar was excellent. I thought it was a great place for the money and location. The location was awesome if you were interested in being in the city centre.
“several problems”
The hotel itself seemed to be clean and well maintained. Location is excellent. Close to train station and main sights in Edinburgh. Wireless Internet is non-existent. Only able to get any signal in the bar, no signal in the room and when you have to pay for it, you expect better than this. Beware: this hotel still has the old key lock system not electronic locks and no in-room safes. You have to leave your key with the front desk when you leave and then just have to tell them you room number when you get back to get your key. Our room was broken into because of this so the hotel should really upgrade to electronic locks which is really now the industry standard. Most of the front desk staff were helpful and sympathetic when we were trying to sort things out from the break-in but one acted like it was an incovenience for him!
“new york”
we arrived in the early morning and we couldn't get into the room untill 3pm. and person at the front desk insisted check in time start 3pm and no room is available and clearned till 3pm. so we had to wait untill 3pm. this is worst experience for us. most of hotel give us the room even before check in time. so we had to wait long time to check in. I believe some room were ready before 3pm...............they make us so tired................
“Loved the Old Wavery”
Would definately recommend, price was very reasonable, great central location, very handy access to train station, nice clean room. No complaints at all and would definately return and recommend.
