Comfort & Timeless Elegance In A Beautiful SettingPosted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: The wonderful welcoming feel was a bonus for me.
Location: There's a golf course right there by the hotel, the grounds are lovely to wander round & in town shopping and tourist attractions are not far away.
I only had a two night stay but wish I'd had time to stay longer, more of a historic country house ambience and elegance than more modern hotels which for me added to it's charm. The staff are excellent nothing is too much trouble for them. I had a double room which was sumptuously furnished with lovely antique furniture a refreshing change from the usual clinical image you find in top 'luxury' hotel chains & I've stayed in lots all over the world. The setting is superb, giving the feel of being in the middle of the country whilst having the convenience of being only a short distance from the centre of town. The proverbial hidden gem.

Something SpecialPosted Dec 8, 2013
This was our 3rd time staying at Prestonfield House and as usual everything was perfect. We stayed to celebrate my husbands birthday and the experience did not disappoint. We had a wonderful time.

Unashamed Baroque luxuryPosted Nov 16, 2013
Pros: The Baroque opulence of the hotel is quite unique; the food was superb and the staff were, without exception, friendly and helpful.
Location: Very attractive parkland setting in the shadow of Arthur's Seat, 15 minutes drive from the city centre.
We've just returned from a 4-night stay at Prestonfield, which we used as a base for revisiting old haunts, friends and family. We've stayed in lots of Edinburgh hotels over the years and can confidently say that this one tops the lot. From the peacocks on parade outside the front door on arrival to the lavish decor and the excellent food, this is an experience you will love.

Pure luxury! Thoroughly spoiled!! Staff, decor, food, service.....AMAZING! Was a special treat for my boyfriends 40th, and as we drove up in my wee punto, we were greeted as though we were in a rolls Royce. Will definitely be back for the next big occasion! Well worth the money :)

A Spot of Luxury for our 45th Wedding Anniversary!Posted Oct 2, 2013
Pros: Excellence at every turn - organised, friendly and polite staff, superb decor and facilities in the room and all other parts, and fantastic food.
Location: Set in parkland, 10 minutes from the city centre, Prestonfield opens the gateway to Scotland in style. Historic attractions will keep you occupied.
My Wife and I were married while I was still completing my Degree at Edinburgh University, as I switched mid-course to these new-fangled computer things, and took the pilot Honours Degree in Computer Science. We spent the first year of our married life very happily, and she worked in nursing at the Western General Hospital, on the brand-new Kidney Transplant Unit - leading-edge technology then. We wanted to look at old haunts - well, apart from our flat in Murrayfield Avenue, Edinburgh has lost its 'Auld Reekie' character, and Princes Street is now just like any other main street (apart from the view!), and we couldn't see the top of Arthurs Seat because of the haar - but the visit was wonderful, and we returned home much refreshed, with considerable appreciation for our time at the Prestonfield Hotel.

A little bit of country in EdinburghPosted Aug 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
Prestonfield House was an absolute joy! The grounds are beautiful, replete with peacocks and cattle in the field. The service was the best we have ever had in our many travels. Breakfasts were superb. We ate dinner twice in Rhubarb and could not have been more pleased. The decor is incredibly beautiful including the fresh flowers. Champagne in our room every afternoon was simply fabulous! We cannot say enough good about our stay. If it were possible to award sixes and sevens, we certainly would!
