Hotel in the centre of the Old town in Edinburgh

Posted Feb 25, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Breakfast as stated above and room temp
Location: Lots to see and do ideal central location
Have stayed here a couple of times. Staff always friendly and helpful. Very clean and relaxing atmosphere. The only negative thing would be the temperature in the room we stayed in, the air conditioning didn't seem to work very well and was too hot even after adjusting to lower temp. Also we had to ask for firm pillows twice as they forgot to give us some. Restaurant for breakfast was ok but we were sat on an awkward table of which people could look down from table above seeing us eat, not very nice. Also it would be better if they put the marmalade and jams in pots on table rather than in one bowl in the buffet and the fruit juice was watered down and cheap not fresh!! And a faster toaster needed. Overall though pleasant stay.

Nice hotel in great location.

Pros: Great location.
Great location close to many attractions. No shortage of restaurants and pubs. Staff was just lovely, but hotel is in need of sprucing up. Carpeting was just awful - heavily soiled in hallways and my room.

Good hotel in great location on the Royal mile.

Pros: The itchykoo restaurant is lovely. As is the bar area.
Cons: Carpet and furniture in the room we were in are getting a bit tired looking but still not a disappointment.
Location: Hotel is in a central location, 10 minute hilly walk from Waverley train station, 5 min walk from Edinburgh castle.
Stayed at this hotel to go to the Kaiser Chiefs concert at the Usher Hall. Staff were all very helpful. The reception team, the leisure facility team and the restaurant employees were all brilliant.

Nice hotel in the city centre

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: The customer service.
Cons: There was a faulty interior door handle.
Location: In the city centre close to shops and historic buildings.
We were up in Edinburgh for a wedding. The wedding started at 2pm and we arrived at the Radisson at 12.30 which was not a problem. We were able to go to our room and freshen up. The staff could not do enough for us, they were so courteous and helpful.

Overall Good

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Hotel is located in the centre of Edinburgh, 2minute walk from Edinburgh Waverly Station and Princes Street. The hotel is very clean however there were small problems with the room. I was in a standard room looking over towards Arthur's Seat which was very pleasant however there were noises coming from the bathroom for the entire stay making it a bit more difficult to sleep. The pillows gave near no support, they were more like an empty pillowcase. When leaving I left my luggage at reception to collect later, I came back and was forced to wait while the staff finished their conversation about going out after work then was given poor service. Overall an OK hotel.

Excellent hotel, handy for city centre

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable and pleasant decor, good location
Cons: Room lighting, price of freshly cooked breakfast.
Location: On the Royal Mile, handy for Princes St. and city centre, good local restaurants (Great food at Monteith's, just about opposite the hotel)
We stayed here for two nights in January 2015. The purpose of our visit was to see friends in Edinburgh and do some sight seeing, and for our purposes this was an excellent choice, close to shops, nice restaurants and bus routes. We didn't eat at the hotel (other than breakfast) so can't comment on the food. The buffet style breakfast for £12.50 was as good as buffet style breakfast gets, which is to say it was reasonable. We would have preferred freshly cooked but at £17.95 thought it rather expensive. Bar prices were as expected, with excellent service and plentiful nibbles to accompany. The room was very well appointed, clean and comfortable, and room cleaning was prompt and top rate. A minor niggle, the reading lights on either side of the bed didn't have separate switches so had to be both on if I wanted to read after my wife wanted to sleep, also the room lighting was a little on the low side for us, though this seems to be usual nowadays. Overall this was an excellent choice, pretty much exactly what we wanted for a high value weekend away, though obviously not cheap.
