Great location, great fun, on a budget!Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: As above
Cons: As above
Location: 10 minute walk into city centre restaurants & pubs right near to hotel too....
When I visited with my father & brother in late February, it was a special occasion and my brother had surprised as we didn't think he was coming. The staff at The Ritz were fantastic and went along with the 'surprise', which made for the perfect start to our trip! Throughout our stay the staff were excellent and attentive - particularly to our elderly father. The late bar was great, and the bar staff would stay up until you were finished - brilliant! The rooms were comfortable, with tea & coffee (an essential for any Brit!) at reasonable prices. Only small minus is that the walls seemed a little thin so you could sometimes hear others come and go, but perhaps that's to be expected at an easy going & fun hotel; deffo recommend & would love to go back!

Nice hotel next to hay market stationPosted Jul 17, 2014
This is a very nice smallish hotel with all mod cons for a weekend away. If I could give this hotel 10 out of 10 it would be for their massive comfy beds. I would definitely stay here again. Staff were really nice, it's a grand wee hotel.

Great locationPosted Jul 4, 2014
Cheap and old school. Dont expect anything classy. Plus points: Comfy room, v spacious, pleasant staff. Negatives: Bed linen had marks on it, shower is a mixer tap and not great quality (room 22 at the very too), no elevator. Decor is old but charming. Non of this however resulted in an unhappy trip. I would stay here again if the price was right. 2 mins from Edinburgh Haymarket train station.

Not impressedPosted Jul 2, 2014
The shower was difficult to regulate, it was either very hot or very cold! Shame the management don't check basics! I wouldn't recommend it & perhaps they ought to change the name of the hotel - using the name Ritz is rather pretentious

Very convenientPosted May 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
Convenient location round the corner from tram, train and bus to airport, and (for me, anyway) within 25-mins walk from the centre and from, say, Morningside. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms clean and well appointed (though a few doorways are a bit narrow if there's a bit of furniture in the way). To be honest, would have been nice to have breakfast included in the price, but you can buy coffee and a pastry at a fairly reasonable price in the bar. In general, did the job I wanted it to do, so am satisfied :)

Located near city center, everything was fine at the hotel, Owners were very helpful, reminds me of NOLA, the way it's decorated. 3rd floor was accessed via stairs.

ok for short stayPosted Apr 30, 2014
Pros: It was handy for the purpose of my visit,
Cons: It needs a full makeover
Location: Location is fine, not in City Centre but only a short ride by train, bus and soon tram. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.
Was at a gig and wanted hotel near the venue and rail station
