“Unbeatable view across Princes street from the Castle”

This hidden gem is outstanding. The location can't be beat and the rates are great. I returned to the hotel within days of our original stay due to a change in other plans.

“Old fashioned service”

Convenient location for PrincesStreet and close to Waverley rail station. Took about 10 minutes to walk to the Old Town. Breakfast served to you and freshly cooked. Room overlooked Edinburgh Castle.

“Surprisingly disappointed”

My daughter and I chose this hotel because we had one day to spend in Edinburgh and wanted to be within walking distance to the castle, Holyrood and the historic sights of the city. From the photos on Expedia, the hotel looked historic but in good condition. We were very surprised to walk into an entrance the reminded me of a hostel with a small desk, creaky floors and an old elevator whose gate didn't open up all the way, and could not accommodate 2 passengers and our 2 bags! We walked up the stairs and down the creaking carpeted hallway and arrived at our room that once again, felt like a hostel. We had two old twin beds and the decor was very outdated to the point where my 20 year old daughter commented that it felt creepy! The bathroom was very updated, but it was clear looking at the floor, that it hadn't been well cleaned! Shocking! The fan in the bathroom was broken making an extremely loud noise and the phone looked like it dated back to the 70s. The service was fine all the way around and the hotel did have a spectacular view of the castle. But having come from a very sleek hotel in London, I was completely shocked and felt that the photos I saw on the website were deceptive. I would not recommend this hotel to friends especially since there are others to choose from in the area.
