Impressed. In the heart of the Royal Mile. Not expensive.

“noisy noisy noisy”

At first, I was very happy with the hostel. Everything seemed perfect... it was new, modern, clean, and close to the city center. Computers with internet were also free, and the staff was pretty nice. I was about to rate this hostel one of the best stays I've had. However, things began to change at night. All the rooms are facing a courtyard with chairs. The courtyard is connected to their restaurant/bar. Thus, people buy drinks and talk outside in the courtyard. Normally, I wouldn't mind, but the walls are thin and the windows need to be open (no airconditioning). It was very very loud (I could practically hear everyone's conversations). I couldn't sleep and I went down to talk to the restaurant. I asked them if they could close the bar because everyone (not only me) can't sleep. They said they would close it at 2 a.m. (it was 1 a.m. when I asked). I waited until 2:30 a.m. and they were still selling alcohol (why not, they were making money!) and people still kept going out to the courtyard. I went down again and asked the front desk this time and he told me he can't do anything about it! I slept around 4 a.m. that night. This was one of the worst hostel experiences I've had, because of the noise.

“Very good for a hostel.”

It's a hostel so you know the environment you will get on the weekends. It was clean, convenient, and you can't beat the price for that area of the city.
