Top Class Service, Food & Comfort

Posted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff. Attentive without being over-bearing.
Cons: Double glazing on rooms which face the lane outside the Inn.Not much traffic but the Inn sits next to single lane bridge controlled by traffic lights.
Location: Easy access to Edinburgh but nice rural location.
Stayed at the Inn prior to visiting Edinburgh University with my wife & daughter. Friendly, efficient check-in after a 5 hour drive. Lovely room, tastefully decorated with giant king size bed. Spotlessly clean. Great food in the restaurant washed down with a nice real ale. Good nights sleep on a humid night. Fab breakfast cooked to order & served by really friendly staff. Excellent value. We know where we will be staying if my daughter chooses Edinburgh Uni !!

A perfect introduction to Scotland

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Pros: Great location on an historic canal. You can walk along it. Great shower! Peaceful vibe in the neighbourhood.
Cons: Nothing we can think of.
Location: Walking along the canal. Easy to get into Edinburgh centre. Near to the airport.
The Bridge Inn provides comfort, ambiance, great food and honest value at a great location, in Ratho, just outside Edinburgh. We stayed there at the start and at the finish of a 2 week visit to Scotland. The rooms are bright and clean and the Wi-Fi works most of the time - just like at home. Although there are only 4 guest rooms, the dining room and pub fill up at night. The food is consistent and above-average in quality and presentation, featuring local meats. The staff seem to genuinely enjoy their work. We had a problem with over booking on a third night and the management went out of their way to rectify the situation, guaranteeing that the glitch would be part of a very successful adventure as far as we were concerned. We took public transit - clean, new-looking buses transferring to Edinburgh's new Tram system (known locally as the great debacle) - to get into town. It's better to leave your car in Ratho at the Inn since parking can be scarce in Edinburgh. The weather was better than expected. Thank you global warming. We want to return, both to Scotland and to the Bridge Inn.

Best Place I have ever stayed

Posted Jun 1, 2014
Pros: The food was the best
Cons: the internet was having issues when we were there
Location: there is a bus stop right out side and you can take in to city center in about 45min
This place was wonderful , they have a great staff, best breakfast ever and lots of choices. The setting of this inn is breath taking, so pretty. We went for many walks on the canal and were able to see where some of the local foods they serve in the restaurant are. If you stay here make sure to have dinner too, wonderful food.

Hotel on a canal

Posted May 25, 2014
Pros: Close to the airport, fabulous staff, everything comfortable.
Location: Close to the airport, and I would have loved to have had the time to walk along the nearby canal.
Hotel by a canal was a wonderful welcome to Scotland. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, but the smoked salmon at breakfast was particularly wonderful. We could not have asked for a better beginning for our trip.

Out-of-the-way gem

Pros: Tidy little room overlooking the road and canal, could watch the ducks at play.
Cons: They had been working on the WiFi problem and surely will have it fixed shortly, but it did make me rack up a lot of data against my plan.
Location: Right near the airport. Walk along the canal, take pleasure cruise (the Inn had some kind of catered lunch cruise on offer). Neat old buildings too.
Found this place quite by accident, just a small inn (say, six rooms?) atop a pub/restaurant. Knew that I was onto something when everyone at the airport and cabbies would ask if I were off to a special lunch or dinner when I gave my destination. The owners did a complete renovation a couple of years ago, everything is in fine condition except for the WiFi which was out of order during my entire stay. Ultra-friendly staff and locals in the pub, where I had to eat on Saturday as there was no table to be had in the dining room (menu was the same, couldn't complain at all).

Great Personal Service

We were only staying overnight between flights, but the stay was very relaxing. We were given the Baird, which has a king size bed in a large room, and ensuite bath with a Victorian tub, but no shower. Since we had an early start and would miss breakfast, we were brought a wonderful plate with croissants, butter, jam and fruit the night before, so that we would have something to eat in the morning. The croissants were huge and very fresh! And, since the room came with a hospitality tray featuring a hot pot with tea/coffee, etc. we were all set for the morning. Also, the owner had called a cab for us the night before, so when we left, the cab showed up, and we were at the airport in no time. You just can't beat the convenience. Especially with a full service bar and restaurant onsite where we also enjoyed a scrumptious dinner.

Great hotel close to the airport.

Pros: Convenience to the airport, friendly staff, great food.
Cons: Rooms are a bit small, but clean, wonderfully updated bathrooms.
Location: Canal path to walk, lots of activities in the summer. Many hotels in Edinburgh say they're "airport hotels", but this really was.
Beautifully updated Inn, close to the airport without the airplane noise. Wonderful staff, dining room, and a serene canal path to walk and get outdoors.
