elegant city hotel,

Posted Feb 27, 2015
Pros: Felt safe and secure as I am a lady travelling alone
Location: The whole of Edinburgh is close with so much to do and see, sadly though there were unfortunate people sleeping rough about ten minutes walk away
Rooms lovely, very quiet if you get a room at the back of the hotel but views limited. Beautiful decor, very clean, food lovely, the whole place is like stepping back in time,

Girl`s weekend Away

Posted Feb 27, 2015
Pros: It was very clean, beautifully decorated and the staff were very helpful and friendly
Cons: Nothing it was brilliant
Location: We visited the Royal Yacht Brittania, The Castle, Royal Mile. We went to see a show at Usher Hall and had lunch at The Dome- it was all great!
The hotel was exactly what we asked for-a large 3-bedded room for three mature ladies wanting a weekend away. The room was super very large and comfortable. We had an evening meal in the hotel which was very good and the breakfast was excellent.

Good spot, lovely old building with character

Posted Feb 26, 2015
Pros: The character and location.
Perfect room for traveling with 2 teenage sons. Nice to have hot water, tea and hot chocolate drink, still and sparkling water in room a long with shortbread. The room was nice size and accomodated us well. Much larger than were we stayed in London. Royal Scots Club is just a street or two away from various restaurants and a shirt walk to a Sainsbury market. Location was fine for walking to the castle, Royal Mile and other sight seeing spots. Definitely recommend,

The Royal Scots Club Edinburgh

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Very nice Georgian Hotel about a 10min walk to the Waverly bridge where all the bus tours start & finish from. Also the bus stop for the airport shuttle which costs £7 return (30min journey) We stayed on a room only basis. The Hotel itself was very clean and the room was very large with en-suite and tea and coffee making facilities. One point to note is that the restaurant has a No Jeans policy at all times and at lunch time has a jacket & tie policy. It is nice to stay away from the hustle & bustle of the town centre and there is also some very pleasant restaurants in the local vicinity. We brought a 48hr pass from the Information centre near the Waverly bridge for £48 per person which covered all three Hop On, Hop Off bus tours and entry to the Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh Castle & Holyrood House. All three places are well worth a visit and the cost of this ticket saves you about £20+ which is a big saving. We will definitely visit Edinburgh again as there is still a lot to see and do for all ages.

Nice but cold

Posted Feb 5, 2015
I've spent one night in this hotel in February. The room was very large, the ceiling very high, but there was only one small heater in the room and the windows were old... I've spent a very COLD night ! The room was very nice though. Think about bringing your hot water bottle with you.

Lovely hotel in Edinburgh New Town

Posted Feb 1, 2015
After a friendly welcome at the Royal Scots Hotel, we went up to our room. We were astounded and delighted by the size and furnishings - I wish we had been staying more than one night. One word of warning - no jeans in the restaurant at lunch or dinner - we were caught short.

Lovely hotel, perfect location.

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Most of it!
Cons: Its difficult to say what could be improved..mostly because there is a fine line between it being a club and a public hotel.
Location: Located in quiet street but near shopping and good restaurants. Castle not too far and Scottish National Gallery. Near bus and tram stops.
We stayed here for three nights in a four poster room. The room was lovely, very 'stately', described as a double but more like a king if not superking!. The furnishings were traditional in a huge room which was very clean and although a bit too warm, very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great.....and served in the Members Dining Room (an impressive high ceilinged room) of this club hotel...plenty of choice with cereal, porridge, fresh fruit salad, kippers or cooked breakfast. There is a bar area on the ground floor with walls adorned with Royal Scots portraits and photos which creates the 'Club' feel, it isn't stuffy, and whilst lovely, it doesn't have a totally kickbacked relaxed feel. The position of the hotel is perfect and in a quiet street but minutes from Princes St. It is a short walk from 3 tram stops which has to be the best choice of transport from the airport. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel, but there are many very good restaurants within a few minutes walk. All in all an excellent base to spend a long weekend in Edinburgh.

Vornehmes Hotel, gute Lage, super Frühstück

Posted Jan 4, 2015
