Truly unique hotel experiencePosted Oct 23, 2013
Pros: Everything but the WiFi
Location: The best. It's close to everything that matters in Edinburg
Thought this "High Concept" hotel and it's staff were a wonderful departure from the ordinary room. Front desk was warm and friendly. The room was an odd and unusual treat. Well appointed, and comfortable. My wife and I dined at both of the restaurants and they were very good. My only complaint was the dodgy and rather complicated WiFi. The issuing of multiple password codes, re-logging on all the time as a result of being kicked off or not remembered when you return from shopping or sightseeing is a real inconvenience. They need to replace that system. Don't allow the rest of the hotel experience to be undone by the complication and/or failure your WiFi. This should now be a basic modern convenience.

A great hotel and fabulously welcoming staff!Posted Oct 9, 2013
Even before we arrived, we received great and friendly customer service. On arrival the hotel, it's accommodation and location exceeded our expectations. Our room was very large but cosy and welcoming with the personal touches - mineral water and a freshly baked muffin greeted us on arrival. The bar was a great place to end the day. If I was to return to Edinburgh I would definitely stay at the Rutland again and have already recommended it to a friend.

Great hotel close to everything.Posted Sep 22, 2013
Pros: Service, location, rooms.
Cons: not much
Location: right at the end of Princes Garden close to New Town but easy walking to Old Town the castle and Royal Mile.
the Rutland Hotel is a smallish hotel that is in a perfect location to explore Edinburgh. Additionally the comfort and service is superior. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The restaurants were great - a perfect way to start or end your day. We stayed their two different times and both rooms were very comfortable and attractive. I would highly recommend this hotel

Lovely Hotel with the personal touchPosted Aug 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
We really enjoyed our stay at the Rutland - it was so nice to enjoy a hotel that has individual charm and character. The decoration and interiors have been thoughtfully undertaken and makes it a really lovely place to stay. The staff were the friendliest and most helpful that I have ever encountered and there are some really nice touches that make the room really special - I appreciated the Vogue magazine and muffins! A real gem.

could be so nice but disappointingly dirtyPosted May 28, 2013
Pros: quiet location, plenty of space
Cons: Poor cleanliness and dreadful shower
We stayed 2 nights in the hotel 2 bed apartment. The first impression of the hotel front is dreadful - you wouldnt stay there if you saw it in daylight! once inside it looked much better. The apartment is just down the street. First impressions were not great - peeling wallpaper in the hall and living room. Thick dust (appears as grey fluff) on all skirting boards and many horizontal surfaces. Toilet in need of a proper clean round the hinges - made yucky smell in the bathroom. Shower was useless. overhead rose did little more than dribble and handset was set at child height but did have pressure. I couldnt wash my hair and showered crouching down. Could have been so lovely too. Staff very friendly and helpful and location quiet. Complementary muffins on arrival and small garden all nice touch. Decor all very trendy but now grubby - marks round sockets in lounge etc. Good amount of space for a family. Kitchen well furnished, even a washing machine. Not the level of attention to detail / hygiene and cleanliness expected at this price and would not stay again.

Hotel was nice and restaurants were nicePosted May 18, 2013
Pros: The hotel restaurants, breakfast and location
Cons: Security needs to be much tighter. Rooms were a little cold too.
Location: EICC center is close.
Overall, the hotel was nice and conveniently close to EICC. The Huxley was a nice restaurant with good service and food/drinks. The in-room breakfasts are fantastic too. My only concerns relate to the fact that my room was not cleaned on my last night's stay and that a non-guest was granted key access to my room without my notification or permission. For security and privacy reasons, I was a bit surprised and disappointed about this. Nevertheless, most staff were very nice and personable in general.

Wonderful stay at Rutland apartmentPosted May 12, 2013
We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and it was decorated in funky art deco with a fantastically stocked kitchen and small courtyard. We wished we could have stayed longer than 1 night. The rooms were comfortable and an incredible washroom. Would recommend to anyone. The restaurant Kyloe was also excellent
