“Would go back again”
The location of the hotel was very central to all city activities making it easy to walk everywhere. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were unusually large compared to other European hotels.
“Great Location -- A little noisy”
Great location -- in the middle of the Royal Mile. Excellent for sightseeing from one place Noisy at night, but that's Edinburgh, not the Scotsman!
“A Great Hotel In A Great Location”
The Scotsman was a great place to stay in Edinburgh; ust off the Royal Mile and North Bridge giving convenient access to both Old Town and New Town. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The room was comfortable. we would definitely stay there again!
“Cheerful and helpful staff. Excellent location”
We will be returning to this hotel. We were in a junior suite so the size was very large for european standards. The bathrooms were renovated. Lovely breakfast. Excellent staff.
“A bit disappointed!”
I was very much looking forward to staying at this hotel. I had heard good reviews in the news media and on other internet sites. I found the physical space, i.e. the hallways and the public spaces to be cramped and a bit maze like. The room I was in was lovely but in July and August it can be a bit warm. My room was very warm to hot with one window that was broken and only a small fan to sort this out. I had to leave all the windows and curtains open all night just to make it through the night. I have to say that I found the young man who checked me in to be a bit rude. I didn't appreciate it when I asked him questions that he rolled his eyes and smirked at the other clerk. The only person who was great was the valet who helped with the bags and the showed me to my room. He was very helpful. I would definitely not return here.
“Club music kept me up for hours.”
I got a room on the 2nd floor. At 1am the music coming through the walls was still loud enough for me to make out the words. When I complained to the front desk they asked "does it bother you?" This wasn't street noise. The walls were actually vibrating. At 1:30 they had me repack and move to another room which they didn't make up the next day. I pointed out to both the night manager and the day manager the following morning my frustration. Their only response/remedy was "Sorry, this usually doesn't happen." Definitely not what I expect from a 5-star hotel. Location was perfect even though the hotel was surrounded by scaffolding.
“Fine Hotel”
This was my third time to stay at the Scotsman. I had a wonderful room. The service was very good. Resturant is very nice. Menu is a bit condensed. Very nice access to the rail station and the Royal Mile
“What a welcome to Edinburgh!”
Staff was very helpful and courteous. This was our first time in Scotland and Europe. Can't wait to go back!
“WOW!”
