The smallest room ever in a so called 5 star hotelPosted Aug 26, 2014
Cons: rooms and breakfast
Room was tiny only 1foot each side of bed, mini bar could not open, bathroom very tired. bed was supposed to be queen but was a double and very hard. 25 minuite wait to get in for breakfast then no sugar or butter cutlery missing, buffet very limited for a five star hotel. stay only saved by pompadour restaurant which was fantastic

Gorgeous hotel on princes streetPosted Aug 25, 2014
Hotel is stunning inside and staff are very welcoming. Made the most of our stay by eating in the 5 star restaurant where the food was amazing, and ordered breakfast to our room the following morning which was also fantastic. Pool, sauna & steam room were also a bonus, was so sad to leave! Will definitely return to this hotel

It's what you expect for the pricePosted Aug 3, 2014
Pros: Location and the Caley bar is nice
Cons: The breakfast was very busy and disjointed seating and service
Location: We went to a couple of bars in William street an off the beaten track side road, well worth a visit
The hotel is very nice, it's location is great, short walk from Waverley station. We were given a room on 2nd floor and was disappointed it faced out the back of the Hotel, no view whatsoever, I guess I could have asked for a castle view but in truth was not that bothered it was very quiet and well appointed, a very comfy bed. Nice coffee machine too.

Not a 5 star hotelPosted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: Sunday Jazz lunch The look and feel of Peacock Alley
Cons: Service in both bars, attitude of sone staff, replace worn furniture
Location: visit the castle, shopping, bars and clubs, use the tram from and to the airport, hop on and hop off buses, ferris wheel, theatre, gardens
Room looked tired, no evening turndown service, chairs had seen better days. Chair too low to use to see into mirror to dry hair, even using the 4 pillows to make it higher did not work. Mirror old and difficult to see into. Caley bar service appalling, as was the fact that the bar end nearest the street door was full of used glasses for over 2hrs (we timed it). Very slow service and ended up with a burger that was raw in the middle - no apologies for this offered. Peacock Alley was lovely, however again service was very slow - our waiter went off after giving us the menues and spent the next 1/2hr helping to make drinks. We eventually caught the eye of the waiter in another section of the room who apologised and served us. Edinburgh hospitality was such that 2 nights running we arrived back late - 2nd night (a Friday) we were stopped outside the hotel and asked to show hotel room key (it was dark and he did not identify himself to us as being part of the hotel staff) - do they have problems here? Sunday Jazz lunch was fantastic and I would recommend this, although I could not recommend staying here.

Luxury hotel where excellent service is a given. Bedrooms beautifully furnished. Everything has been thought of. You step into another world. Afternoon Tea in the Peacock suite will never forgotten. Totally superb.

Near the shops and castlePosted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: The hotel is ideal place to go for luxury and to spoiled yourself.
Cons: The other thing is that missing is a bit more entertainment.
Location: On the main street with shops and 5 minutes from the train station.
Just outside the hotel it has a good view of the castle which can be a good choice to get a window view in the room. Close to the shops which is great and it is on the main street but there is another hotel with a similar name. Remember the full name of hotel otherwise the taxi driver might sent you to another hotel.
