"Excellent value close to Royal Mile"
We have stayed here twice this year. It was the BEST price in central Edinburgh which is why we chose it again. We often have a problem finding accommodations for ourselves and teenagers so this was perfect, a queen room with a pull out double couch. And breakfast included for ALL. The front desk staff have always been friendly and helpful as well. Really my only criticism would be how the wifi is delivered-each room is only allowed two codes per day. As international travelers, wifi is super important and between us (two adults, two teenagers) we had 6 devices. So that is a policy they could revisit!!

"Excellent hotel in the best location in Edinburgh"
This is the best hotel to stay at in Edinburgh. It's location in the center of town and next to the train station make it ideal. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are quiet allowing for a great sleep. My favourite part was stumbling upon the J.K Rowling Suite, it's where she finished writing Harry Potter

"Amazing location, great accommodations"
The location of this hotel is superb. I walked outside, turned the corner, and was immediately looking at the St. Giles Cathedral. It's situated in the middle of the Royal Mile (the high street), and I was able to walk here from the train station, and walk everywhere I wanted to go in Edinburgh from the hotel. The accommodations are lovely as well. The room was very clean, well kept, and had all of the amenities I needed. It doesn't have AC but you don't need it - I stayed in the middle of summer and open windows were all I needed for cooling. Very clean and roomy (although you won't need to spend much time in the hotel in such a beautiful city). They had complimentary on-site self-serve laundry facilities as well, which is huge since hotel laundry service fees are always exorbitant.

"Ideal location, great to access all experiences"
Easy to find and the location meant that the Royal Mile is behind and Princes Street is in front. Lots of restaurants and pubs are close by as are a variety of shops. The hotel also has a lovely swimming pool, spa and gym for those rainy days. An open top bus tour is a must and a visit to the royal yacht in Leith is surprisingly interesting especially if you take the bus there and see more of Edinburgh on the way

"Great place"
Loved this hotel. A bit out of the way, but it's beautiful and comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the "do not disturb" sign was actually honored. My extremely tiny room was surprisingly comfortable and well-designed. A great value, and literally right in front of the bus stops to the city center and airport.

"a delightful surprise in the West End"
A charming three-story converted old property given modern retouches and 21st Century comforts. Avoid the Googlemaps directions though - much easier to stay on Princes Street (follow the tram lines) until you get to Palmerston.

"Awesome"
If you want a hotel just like you would find in the U.S. - keep looking. If you want something totally unlike a typical hotel, book it. Its in Old Town. Its a very old building, but thoroughly modern inside, including the plumbing. Its a little quirky and different. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Restaurant on site reasonable/comparable to surrounding restaurants. The full Scottish Breakfast - complete with haggis is a good deal. When we got there, the courtyard was packed with a crowd to watch the World Cup on the big outdoor screen and drink. I thought, "oh, no, the noise...". Didn't hear a peep inside. Very quiet. But with foot-thick stone walls...I guess they made buildings quiet enough to withstand local battles, rebellions, etc.
