Slightly disappointing; Chateau Lacombe Hotel

Posted Mar 2, 2015
Pros: The food was delicious, the beds where comfortable
Cons: To many for me to care about, because I will not stay there again.
Location: Check it out yourself.
We booked our room through Expedia, on the way to Edmonton. We were excited to have been able to get the room for two nights on short notice. We finally arrived around later that evening. We checked into room #507. There was no fridge, oh well, improvise. Ice in a plastic bucket. Later after using the washroom facilities, I realized that there was no bathroom fan, again improvise. Turn the room central air fan to high. In the morning while having a shower, I noticed that the bathtub had been repainted and over time the paint has gotten scraped or was scraped off for some reason, with no repairs having been done before the room was rented out. It would have been nice to have a balcony, but that is our problem for not requesting it or just the fact that we booked through Expedia. After shopping all day Saturday, we didn't want to have to drive anywhere. We had a drink in our room and ended up having supper on a 30" round bar table because the cafe was not open, this was at 6:30 p.m. . Yet the food was available from the kitchen, which by the way was delicious. We went for a walk outside to finish off the evening because there was pool or workout facilities. While out for our walk, several panhandlers approached us and tried to shake us down, guilt trip, to give them money. We checked out early Sunday morning, headed home.

Nice location

Posted Mar 1, 2015
Stayed at the hotel for three nights. Hotel staff was nice, though something as simple as ordering room service was a hassle. I called once, was told I'd get a call back. Had to call 15minutes later because I had heard nothing. The room was very clean, though the bathroom needs some serious updating.

Older Hotel Downtown location.

Posted Feb 27, 2015
Pros: Location, staff and restaurants.
Cons: Needs some updating.
Location: Downtown location.
Hotel is older and kind of shows it. Staff was really friendly and the restaurants were really nice. Room was quite small and definitely older. Could not lower the temperature in the room, A/C I am guessing is not available in winter. Water pressure and temperature left a lot to be desired. The downtown location worked out really well as we were attending a concert at the Starlight room. Parking is pay type but was easy to use and to be expected at a downtown location.

Nice clean hotel but no AC

Posted Feb 24, 2015
Everything was good, clean and respectable except no AC and the room was very hot. Had a fan that ran all night but did not cool off room at all. It was so hot and dry my daughter was awake at 6am with a bloody nose....sorry but won't go back or recommend.

Nice downtown location.

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: It overlooks the River Valley. plus is within walking distance to many downtown facilities.
Location: Very central with the art gallery, the Winspear Center, the Citadel Theatre and shopping within walking distance.
An older hotel but with many renovations done and in progress. Clean throughout with friendly, helpful staff.

Nothing Fancy

Posted Feb 21, 2015
As far as this hotel goes the experience was nothing amazing. The room was quite outdated, we went for supper in the cafe and it wasn't great. The staff is nice, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It's a bit over priced for what it really is.

We had a room overlooking the river valley. Nice view. Comfortable bed. Basic hotel room. I like their lotions etc. that are sourced locally. Lobby had been nicely updated. At at lounge and had an amazing steak!

Too expensive for nothing

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Nice room but.. No pool, everything closes early, chambermaid walked right into our room at 9am, bar closed at 11???, the phone charger in the room is for a 4 ( who has a 4 anymore) and we had to pay $15 for parking on top of a $200 plus room. Like really?? Not worth the cash.

Pluses and Minuses

Posted Feb 13, 2015
Pros: South-facing rooms have a nice view of the river valley. Overall it's in relatively good condition.
Cons: 1) Update the tv system to something out of the '90's. 2) Fix anything broken or not working e.g. sink stoppers that don't stop, etc.
Location: It's downtown Edmonton. There's not much of anything. The only reason to stay there is if you have to work nearby.
All things considered this is a decent hotel worth the rate they charge. There wasn't anything worthy of me wanting to check out or anything.
