The sutton place hotel

Posted Oct 20, 2014
The hotel room was in bad need of a renovation. Only one sink and it's in the bathroom right buy the toilet Hallways were very noisy. The Lobby area was nice though.

Paid extra for the worst hotel say I've ever had.

Pros: The location.
Cons: Service, cleanliness, repair wallpaper, remove mold, book rooms for the requested number of guests, don't charge so much for parking... a lot!
Location: Centrally located, and easy to access sites downtown.
Apparently booking a room for 3 through this site, does not guarantee you enough beds for 3. We arrived to find only a king bed in our room with the front desk saying there was nothing they could do, and there were no cots available for the night. They were extremely unhelpful, and even refused to call and ask if there were any cots left. "there are none on the computer" was their excuse! After two hours worth of complaining with both the front desk and Expedia, we finally found a manager, and she called housekeeping. Low and behold, there was a cot that wasn't in the computer! Why couldn't the staff just make the same phone call she did! That is when we found out that apparently we were "upgraded" from 2 doubles to a king. Sorry, but having less beds and asking our son to sleep on the floor is not an "upgrade!" The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling off the walls, and mold was evident in several areas. After taking a shower the reason was evident. There was no bathroom fan! The pool was colder than most glacial fed lakes I have swam in, and the elevators jumped severely when starting up. This could be a very great hotel, but our stay left me more than a little disappointed. I did not pay extra to stay in 3.5 star hotel, to find mold, a lack of beds, an indoor pool that is colder than a mountain lake, and elevators that make you wish you had taken the stairs. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Save your money and stay somewhere else!

Pros: The carefulness thinking for the guest
Two nights in downtown, nothing too much to complain, but nothing too much to compliment.

Smelly sheets and huge stain on carpet.

The sheets smelled like food, the face clothes smelled strongly like bleach. There was mildew in the shower and a huge stain on the carpet. I would probably not book to stay there again

nice hotel, decor a little outdated, didn't get fridge as advertised and tv was smaller than the 37' advertised on expedia some little things like ice machine not on every floor, had to go hunting, but staff very pleasant and helpful. good location , close to shopping , restaurants (all connected through mall -including hotel - didnt have to go outside). Street people a bit annoying outside front doors asking for change, smokes , etc.

Location: Westin Hotel is nearby and a real attraction after this clunker
Poor old dated run down hotel. They need to put this thing down like an old dog.

Location, but not much else.

The best thing about the Sutton Place Hotel - Edmonton is its location, right downtown and connected by indoor walkway to the Edmonton City Center Mall. The hotel itself however is incredibly outdated with the furnishings, bedding and room decor still stuck in the 80's or 90's. Add to that the elevators don't work half the time and that you are paying $31 a day for parking ($38 for valet), and the stay just is not that great. The restaurant "Chop" is also overpriced and I did not have a great experience getting take out food there. Had to wait much longer than expected for my food, no condiments or utensils were provided with my order, and the server had the gall to ask "What I wanted for change?" like they expected to get a tip on a takeout order. Would not stay at this property again.

Nice hotel, reasonable rates

Cons: Would be nice if the pool temp was warmer.
Location: Chop restaurant located inside the hotel was great. Lots of shopping at City Centre Mall.
We had a nice stay at this hotel. Got upgraded to an executive suite without even asking, much appreciated. Suite was nicely decorated and equipped with everything we needed. Would stay again.
