Very clean hotel and wonderful staff

Posted Feb 24, 2015
The staff went above and beyond to make our trip stress free and enjoyable. Very friendly, very clean. For what we went to Edmonton for the location of the hotel was perfect as well and we got to (complimentary) valet park and walk whyte ave.

Ideal hotel meeting all our requirements.

Pros: The location, the staff, the rooms and the fair prices.
This is the third time that we have stayed at the Varscona and we will stay there again in the next few months. Our two Daughters and our Granddaughter will be staying there at the end of February because of our recommendation. The reason for this activity is the birth on December 14, 2014 of our Grandson. The staff are helpful, the rooms have been renovated and the rates are reasonable.

Pleasantly surprised.

Pros: The amenities, Bath robes, detached hangers, wonderful pillows, offering wine and cheese and a delicious breakfast in the morning were well received.
Cons: Larger napkins at breakfast. Size is way too small
Location: Love the location. Walking to places is a great advantage instead of taking a cab or driving.
I have stayed in several hotels in Downtown Edmonton and will never stay there again. For a recognized City the hotel accommodations with some well known brands is very disappointing. The word to describe my experience with them is Shabby, not safe and very disappointing. Staying at the Varscona was delightful. It reminded me of small boutique hotels I have stayed at in New York. Love the service, the room was exceptionally clean and delightful. Will stay there again while visiting Edmonton. Will recommend the hotel to everyone who I know frequents Edmonton.

Beds

Posted Feb 10, 2015
Pros: location is excellence, have stayed there several times and would stay again
Cons: condition of the beds
Location: excellent location for what we needed
It is time that the mattresses are replaced. They were a little sagging. Temperature of the room was very warm and it was difficult to get the temperature down. I think the room just needs a little TLC. It is a nice hotel and would stay there again. Staff was great.

The Hotel is in a good location if your looking for some night life action. Rooms are a bit dated but not too bad. Over all experience was good, I would stay there again.

Great location, but needs renovation

Great location. Staff were friendly and helpful. However it has a funny smell in the hallways and rooms and is just looking worn down. Time for a renovation!

Lovely hotel in awesome neighbourhood

Posted Jan 24, 2015
My stay at the Varscona was easily the best hotel experience of my multi-stop business trip that took me to both ends of Canada and everywhere inbetween. The staff was incredible, even before check-in. I called a few days before my arrival to let them know that I would be checking in very late and was reassured that my room would be waiting for me. Check-in was quick, efficient, and the staff member Evan was friendly and courteous despite the late late hour. My room was very clean, spacious, and had all the same touches as the DoubleTree I had stayed in the night before, but the Varscona felt less sterile. The bed was heavenly, and a king bed was the same price as a queen at booking. The deluxe continental breakfast was amazing. This was way beyond coffee, fruit, and pastries - sausage, bacon, eggs, oatmeal are just some of the options. Overall, an amazing stay. It's amazing value considering the price of a reputable chain hotel like the DoubleTree is higher and DT doesn't include an awesome breakfast. I would definitely stay again.

The Hotel is close to our son's home.

The reason for our visit to Edmonton was to see our new grandson, 1 week old. The Hotel location is ideal, the staff are very welcoming and helpful and the newly renovated rooms are reasonably priced and are very nice.
