"Quality hotel with interesting features and local charm"
I liked this hotel. It's old school in many ways, but this mostly comes across as traditional homely German charm.
The restaurant and bar are spacious, my room and en-suite was perfectly comfortable, access to a buffet-style 'continental' breakfast was included (far from a given in mid-range German hotels, I've found) and there's parking at the rear of the hotel. Staff were friendly and there are even two skittles alleys for hire in a separate area next to the bar, which kids would enjoy.
Internet access at a fixed rate of 6 euros for unlimited use over my two night stay was a good service and reasonable price - again, far from a given in many places.
The town itself isn't very interesting but it has a number of restaurants and the position allows easy daytrips to explore places of interest like Trier, Koblenz, the Mosel Valley wine region and the Eifels forests / nature parks.
If in the area I would stay here again with pleasure.

From our arrival, we were made to feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner and staff of this delightful hotel - a real gem and a well-kept secret! As two gay men travelling together, initial reception is always a concern, but we were welcomed wholeheartedly and treated extremely well throughout our stay. Rooms were large, well equipped and all had superb views over the surrounding beautiful countryside. Breakfast was substantial, with choices to suit all tastes. We chose to have dinner at the hotel for most of our stay there: we would highly recommend doing this as the standard of meals there was superb. Unusually in Germany, we were offered vegetarian options using locally sourced ingredients to produce very tasty, very satisfying meals. These were also very reasonably priced.
We were offered advice on the best places to go hiking, strolling, shopping and loaned maps to help find our way around. The Ritschlay at Bollendorf village is located in the beautiful Sud-Eifel region of Germany, on the Luxembourg border. We stayed at the 'Four Seasons' (Vierjahreszeiten)rooms, located down the hill from the main hotel. It's quite a steep but short climb up to the hotel for meals, but it helps to work up an appetite! Rooms were quiet, comfortable, well-maintained and very clean. Beds had very soft mattresses, which may not be great for anyone with back problems, but for most people these would be very comfortable.

This hotel is an extended village pub with excellent modern accommodation. The village is now bypassed by the motorway linking Witlich (D) and St Vith (B) so is relatively quiet but with church bells from across the road. Reception and restaurant staff very pleasant. Modern glass lift takes you to bedroom floors. Some residual tobacco smell on ground floor but with no internal smoking allowed in UK hotels' public areas anymore it came as a bit of a surprise. Adequate outside parking off main road. Room well fitted built into roof space. Good value for money and a useful overnight stop when travelling from UK into Germany. Very rural surrounds so car needed if using hotel as base but walking seemed to be a popular pastime for holidaymakers.

This is a really excellent, classy hotel that offers really good value for money. Great position over looking the town, historic aristocratic feel and yet well kept, comfortable and welcoming. Excellent level service from hotel staff with very good English. Really outstanding food from a young chef who really knows what he's doing and served in a way that makes it a fine dining experience (don't go to the restaurant expecting fish and chips tho - you'll be disappointed).
I travel a lot and stay in many hotels around the world, but this trip was for me, because it was convenient for the Nurburgring, so this time it was my money and I was more than happy with what I paid for my stay. It was only one night, but I WILL be returning to this hotel, it's a keeper.
I rarely fill these things in, but Schloßotel Kurfürstliches Amtshaus gets my vote, gets my recommendation and actually gets a review out of me!

Have lived in the area before and this Hotel was very conveniently located to suit our needs. Service was excellent, courteous and friendly. Condition was a bit off, but adequate. (No ventelation in bathroom and of course no air conditioning and it was unseasonably warm!) Restuarant was very good also. Hotel staff met and exceeded our every request. If all you need is a comfortable base to start your day's excursions, and a warm comfortable bed to end them, then this is the place for you!
