Posted Feb 9, 2015

Nice atmospherePosted Feb 4, 2015
Good hotel just a 9 minute walk from the main street. View of the lake and the mountains from your room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast with fresh fruits, cakes and the usual breads etc.

Close to townPosted Jan 24, 2015
The first night we had a regular room that needed updating. We were traveling with two separate reservations (my bad) so we had to move rooms the second nite so they cheerfully upgraded us to a better full suite. The suite was much nicer.

Great spa, bad foodPosted Nov 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
The Esplendor in El Calafate is a luxureous hotel. It is located out of the main street of town, about 15 minutes walking up on a small hill. It's main point of attractiveness is its spa, with indoor heated pool in which you can relax after a cold day at Perito Moreno. Things that the hotel can improve on: English of its staff (some speak a bit of English, a couple do not speak any English, you do expect a hotel of this standard to have full English speaking staff, especially in a tourist town like El Calafate), the heating of the rooms (it was very warm and there is no air con, we kept the window open at all times), and the food. For the last point, we ordered a pizza and a pasta at the bar. The pizza was the worst that we ever had, there was no tomato sauce just cheese and a bit of salami. The pasta was mostly burnt. So all in all, a nice place to relax after a day at perito moreno, with a number of points to improve on.

Quase perfeitoPosted Oct 4, 2014 on Hotels.com

A quirky gemPosted May 5, 2014 on Hotels.com
Our stay had all the comfort of a great hotel without the impersonal sheen of glamour. The design was funky and sometimes surprising, and our room was very comfortable (though it could have been slightly better lit). The hotel service was informal, but friendly, helpful and good at their jobs. The food, including lunchboxes, was great (though somewhat at the whims of delivery problems in a distant corner of the world - no pears while we were there!) and the location was great for both the view over the lake, and an easy and short walk down to the town centre. We enjoyed staying here a lot.
