Very nice, close to Arenal

Posted Apr 10, 2015
Pros: Quiet, beautiful views, helpful staff
Cons: as said, bathroom could use updating, but wouldnt hold this against them.
Location: Close to Arenal and zip lining
Very nice hotel! very close to Arenal. Small cottages with beautiful view! Comfortable and clean, bathroom needs a little updating but it does its purpose. Very quiet! Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast included and very good! Small quiet hotel, beautiful flowers!! I would certainly stay here again.

Great staff, Nice hotel, Horrible road

Posted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: The staff was incredible!
Cons: The access to the hotel
Location: The canopy Zip lines and and Sky were awesome.
The staff was exceptional (especially Micheal) and the hotel rooms were very nice, the view was incredible. The road to the hotel was one of the worst roads I have ever taken. Took out one tire and turned the 5 mile journey into an hour ordeal each time we went to town. It's no fault of the hotels, but it should be noted to plan extra time in your day to travel.

wonderful view to the vulcano.

Posted Apr 4, 2015
Pros: view to the vulcano and lake, quiet place
Cons: renovation necessary; overpriced
Location: butterfly farm very close (200m uphill)
wonderful view to the vulcano, breakfast not worse it; simple old but very clean rooms; charm of the 70s. Often groups. No swimmingpool althought the fotos on the website seem to show that. It 's just a not so inviting tube.

Acceptable Hotel

Posted Mar 17, 2015
Pros: The view
Cons: The pool size and the road to get there.
Location: They have a list with a bunch of activities to do, off course paying extra.
The hotel it self was ok, the staff was nice and it was clean. My biggest turn down was the pool, on the pictures it looks like a decent- normal size pool, but is actually more like a jacuzzi or kids pool cause the water is not even warm. Also, in order for you to get to the hotel you have to drive on a 10km dirt road that unless you have a 4x4 car will be a problem. I was able to get to the hotel just fine, but I think they should mention that.

Schönes Hotel mit Blick auf den Vulkan Arenal

Posted Feb 3, 2015

Too Far From Almost Everything

Posted Jan 16, 2015 on Hotels.com
Unless you are looking for a really secluded place to stay near Arenal, I would not recommend Hotel Castillo. It's about a 30 minute drive from the main town, La Fortuna. Most of that time is spent crawling along at 20kph along a pot hole ridden dirt and rocky road, that is only meant for 4x4s. Our Nissan sedan rental had a tough time getting through. The hotel itself is acceptable with nice views, friendly staff and good food. It's also reasonably priced. The pool has a nice view of the mountain, but is really tiny - more whirlpool sized, than for swimming. They also have a billiards table and foosball set up, to keep you busy. If this hotel were closer to La Fortuna, or even on a paved road I woul have rated it a 4.

Séjour très agréable

Posted Dec 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
