GREAT VACATION IN THE JUNGLEPosted May 5, 2014
Pros: BUNGALOWS, SERVICES, NATURE Y CLEAN.
Location: GREAT LOCATION,MANY SITE TO VISIT, LIKE TIKAL, YAXHA AND THE MAYAN CITY WITHIN THE HOTEL ALSO BIRD WATCHING.
IN THE MONTH OF APRIL ON WAY TO TIKAL I STAYED AT MAYA ZAC PETEN JUNGLE LODGE, WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. I NEVER THOUGHT THAT IT WAS SO EASY TO FIND MYSELF IN SUCH BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS. THE JUNGLE MUSIC OF THE BIRDS KEPT ME ENTERTAINED DURING THE EVENING. THE MORNING WAKEUP WAS SPECTULAR FROM BUNGALOW NO. 6, HUNDREDS OF BIRDS CRUSING THE LAKE REFLECTING THEIR SHADOWS ON THE SURFACE OF THE LAKE. THE STAFF MADE ME FEEL AT HOME, ALWAYS READY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT I MAY HAVE HAD, THEY ORGANIZED A GREAT TOUR FOR ME TO TIKAL WITH A LOCAL COMPANY. ON MY RETURN THEY HAD ALREADY ARRANGED FOR ME TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE AIRPORT IN FLORES. THE ONLY THINGS THAT I COULD SAY ABOUT THIS WONDERFUL PLACE IS GOOD JOB AND THANK YOU ! !

Too expensive for the servicePosted Dec 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
I was charged as a 4 star hotel, but I wouldn't give it even 2. In my reservation there wasn't any mention about riding a boat to get to the hotel. I arrived with my family around 8 pm and I didn't feel it safe to ride at that time with my kids and wife. Next day we tried it because I was already charged for 2 nights. The experience wasn't bad, decent food, clean rooms, but the really negative part is the hotel administrator; cero customer service skills, rude treatment with guests and the 2 hotel staff. The best part of this hotel is the guy who drives the boat, carry the luggage and works as a waiter. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody. We spent the same amount of money for a way better hotel in Santa Elena. Very disappointed with this reservation. No tv, no AC, and no lights in the pool area. They charged for everything, even for an extra towel. The idea of this hotel is nice, but they need to improve, specially the customer treatment

IT IS HARD TO IMAGINE NOT KNOWING THAT TO GET TO THE JUNGLE LODGE IT WAS NECESSARY TO GO BY BOAT,CONSIDERING THAT THE LOCATION IN ON A PENINSULA ACCESSIBLE ONLY BY BOAT AND IS THE MAIN CARACTERISTIC OF THE LODGE.THE ARRIVAL WAS AT 8:00 P.M. WITHOUT ANY PRIVIOUS NOTIFICATION AS PER HOTEL POLICIES, 24 HRS. PREVIOUS ARRIVAL REQUIRED, OUR STAFF OF 6 HAS GIVEN THE BEST POSSIBLE ASSISTACE. AS FAR AS FOR THE HOTEL NOT HAVING A/C OR TV ARE NOT AMENITY OFFERED BY THE LODGE. THE LIGHT AT THE POOL GO AUTOMATICALLY OFF AFTER POOL HRS. SO AS NOT TO LEAVE A HEAVY ECOLOGICAL FOOT PRINT BEEING THE LODGE IS A PROTECTED HISTORICAL SITE. NO EXTRA CHARGES WERE NAVER MADE.
