“Pretty hotel with little regard for guest service”

The hotel is located in an isolated part of Eleuthera. Though the beaches are lovely, it is very difficult to access restaurants or food unless you pay the rather exorbitant price for a rental car or taxi. The hotel rooms and surrounding grounds are lovely. The staff, however, appeared to be missing in action. When we arrived at about 4pm, all the woman behind the counter could offer was a key to our room. We had no food in the room, the local restaurant was closed, and no options were offered to us for finding food our first night. People who have "raved" about the level of service at this hotel/efficiency could only be talking about the maids, as they seemed to be the only staff available! It would be nice if the hotel had offered a welcoming package of information and (in view of the fact that they knew we would be arriving on the one day of the week that the only restaurant is closed) perhaps a bottle of wine and some cheese in the room. For $220 per night (times four nights), that would be a very small expense in exchange for earning customer appreciation. Surely the hotel management is aware of just how isolated this hotel is, but I suspect that few guests who have not stayed there previously are aware of this fact. Amazingly, the wifi in the room actually did work!
