In every area, our stay exceeded our expectations. Definitely get the romantic dinner for two: most exquisite meal we've ever had. Each course was phenomenal. Spa facilities were world class with fantastic view of Alps. Skip the outdoor pool; it was freezing cold. Bed and bedding was very comfortable. After working 20 years in surgery, I have very high standards for cleanliness: A here. Highly recommend.

A typical Austrian stay
A very old and classic hotel, comfortable room is clean spacious, thought my room was on the Main Street so it was noisy, windows are old not totally sealed , not noise-proof.Breakfast was amazing, staff was so friendly and professional.Other than that it was an amazing experience, wonderful as a whole.

Great Gmachl!
Great hotel, quiet and peaceful, ideal for a quick getaway from normal life. Close to Salzburg, but far out enough that you are not in the middle of a city!

Nice respite.
I really enjoyed my stay here-- it was relaxing, the spa was nice, and the food and service were both excellent. My only downsides were that there was no ability to control temperature in the room so was a bit warm, and there is not much in the area if you want to walk around/explore (though it's very easy to take the bus into the city).

Fantastic relaxation stay
Great relaxation stay with fantastic spa facilities. The only improvement would be a regular hotel shuttle to/from Salzburg over the Christmas period when the local bus departs infrequently.

True Austrian Spa Delight
Unexpected evening stay on way back to Frankfurt, the Romantik Hotel was an amazing surprise. Fabulous gym and spa - including infinity pool with amazing view. Hotel food was outstanding - both dinner and breakfast. And comes with free parking. Felt like the true Austrian mountain spa experience.

Would not recommend if there is more then 3 people in a room. Had to reserve 2 rooms, spoke to someone to help me get my family accommodated over the phone it seemed like things were good until we showed up the rooms were not together with a conjoining door like I was told they would be. Receptionist did not seem to care. It's a nice and fancy hotel but I absolutely would not stay here again.

My second stay at this hotel. They have 3 indoor and 2 outdoor tennis courts which is why we chose this hotel. However the lovely spa facilities, the indoor pool , and great food on offer along with delightful staff is the reason l went back and will continue

An Austrian Alps Paradise
I chose to go to Salzburg for Christmas. After researching I found that I wanted peaceful, quiet, fairy tale-like and fun. This was this resort. It is about eight miles north of Salzburg and easily accessed by bus into the city. Only take fifteen minutes. The hotel is very old with a new edition across the street. I did not have the chance to see the rooms on the old side but was in the building a lot and feel that no matter the side you cannot go wrong. I was on the new side and the room was bigger than my London apartment. The tile floors were heated and there were floor to ceiling windows that let you view the sunset on the Alps right from your room. Giant bathtub or the biggest walk in shower and rain shower head I've ever seen. They gave me welcome snacks and because I was visiting during a holiday they had a set menu in the restaurant that was amazing. Actually ate there two nights in a room it was so good. There's a sweet little church next door that I got to attend. There is also an Infiniti pool that overlooks the mountains. I could not have asked for a more picturesque paradise of a place than this hotel and staff and if I'm ever in the area or see this hotel brand in other travels I would definitely consider it again. My Christmas was a pleasure thanks to the Romantik Hotel group.

Pleasant hotel, but not up to 4 star standard.
Although a nice hotel with friendly staff, the lack of air conditioning is a big minus. We arrived in September and temperatures hit 28-30 degrees. The summer must be unbearable. We were provided fans, but mosquitos were out in force. The fans were required all night. I had written to Romantik stating we were celebrating our 30th anniversary on our trip to Salzburg, but it fell on deaf ears as our room was very basic. I am surprised this is classed as 4 star.

Had a wonderful stay at the Romantik Hotel Gmachl. The rooms were beautiful and charming. The location was very quaint and there were great views of rolling hills from the indoor pool. Pool and hotel amenities were fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great place to stay if you're looking for romance.

if you want to sleep past 6am, move on!
Staff was fabulous, room was spotless, breakfast was delicious, and parking was provided without a problem, and pool is modern with infinity edges like the pictures. However, there are a couple things about this hotel that made us regret our stay: our bedroom was located on the side next to the church with a cemetery. the church bell rings every 15 minutes starting at 6am. this is quite annoying given the room doesn't have air conditioner so we needed to keep the window somewhat opened. be aware also that they have an old side and a new side across the street(new side contains the pool). pictures are of the new side. old building's rooms look dated. outside of the hotel, note that parking is expensive in the city of Salzburg.

So this hotel has two very different buildings. The room is very old and traditional. No air condition and very small. The hotel is over 600 years old, it is kept in good condition but the rooms are small and claustrophobic. The breakfast in the morning is really delicious and the hotel is decorated quite nicely. Now, there is a old traditional building where the rooms are and an amazing recreational building with a SPA and a pool with modern amenities.This building has amazing new amenities, a great pool with a few and a great spa. This building made it a well worth stay at the hotel. IT is great for couples to relax, lounge in and have fun. I didn't like our room, but this building made up for it, it was amazing.

If you are visiting Salzburg,this is the best place to stay (even if you have to drive 15 min).Nice and quiet location.We stay in the sweet.Room was big and clean.Breacfast is in very nice restorante,you get everything you emagine: fresh juice,champagne...The best part is saunas and infinity pool at the top floor.Right next to pool is a fire place,which makes place really romantic.By the sauna they have teas,coffee machine,all kind of waters.We really enjoyed staying in this hotel.Just the only complaint to hotels.com.We booked hotel for three person.At reservation they gave us one price,but when we arrive, hotel charge an extra 65 euro per night .This was a trap from hotels.com.Other wise this was absolutly beautiful and romantic stay

Nice retreat in the proximity of Salzburg
Had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. Unfortunately, the weather was not the best. It was exceptionally hot one day but the rooms do not have air conditioning. The second day it poured cats and dogs and so we could not enjoy the swimming pool.

An excellent hotel, new clean rooms, courteous and attentive staff, indoor parking, excellent breakfast, lovely garden for dining. Family run for ~23 generations, historic original building still stands. Church bells next door went off at 0700!!

We accidentally booked 3 rooms instead of 2 and only noticed the morning of our trip but even though the agreement said they could not be cancelled the hotel agreed to cancel the extra room. The staff were very pleasant and the food was great. The only problem was that we went on a very hot weekend and the room was very hot. It may have been better if the hotel could have lent us a fan. The grounds and pool were beautiful and it was definitely a hotel I would recommend.

Excellent food and bar. Unfortunately our rooms were immediately over the road and loading bay which was very noise from about 4 am onwards. Our friends had a particularly bad night and were exhausted in the morning. We could not open our windows due to the noise and there was no control of the room temperature so we were hot. We spoke to the reception about it on check out. There was no manager available. They said they knew it was a problem. These rooms should not be used.

Schönes Haus für Frühaufsteher :)
Schönes Hotel, sanft modernisiert, nettes Personal, Essen und Frühstück hervorragend. Minus: Pool bei schlechtem Wetter sehr klein (es gab vor allem den ganzen Samstag Nachmittag keine freie Liegen weil dort dauerhaft Handtücher abwesender Gäste lagen) und man muss wissen, dass ab 6 Uhr früh die Kichenglocken läuten. Also bei der Zimmerwahl ggf nach ruhigem Zimmer fragen, wir konnten leider nicht ausschlafen dort… dafür kann das Hotel nichts, aber es hat unseren Aufenthalt etwas getrübt.

Liebe Regina, lieber Tassilo,herzlichen Dank das Sie sich für eine Bewertung zeitgenommen haben, Es freut uns Sehr, dass Sie Ihren Aufenthalt in unserem Haus genossen haben.Das Romantik Spa Hotel Elixhauser Wirt gibt es seit dem Jahr 1334, durch den Altbau verfügt unser Haus über verwinkelte Ecken.Wir würden uns freuen Sie wieder begrüßen zu dürfen.
