“Old World Charm with Gourmet Amenities”
May I preface this review with this: having stayed in some of the best (Sofitel) and worst (too many to name) places, it takes a lot to impress me and not much to distress me. The Wayside Inn gets my two thumbs up. Bed and Breakfast owners everywhere could learn a few things from these folks!
Aside from the classic greystone farmhouse architecture, the old-growth trees and the relaxing deck views, the real treat of the Wayside is that the Innkeepers know what the modern traveler needs and wants - modern amenities and good food. Wayside has both, and doesn't sacrifice the charm and history of its establishment in offering them. The rooms are Federalist period with spindle-back chairs and four-post beds, but the linens are brushed microfiber, the bathrooms marble tiled with spa jets. Wireless internet and cable (300+ channels) and large plasma TVs make working or relaxing easy for the weary traveler. The self service gourmet coffee bar made my late-nite coffee run super easy.
No prepackaged foods & dry bagels here, either. The Wayside truly focuses on that aspect with all gourmet fare to start your day right. Common and tropical fruit juice blends, along with gourmet coffee, begin your meal, followed with fruit (in our case, blueberries, raspberries, grapes & mango) dolloped with cinnamin whipped cream. The main course of orange croissant souffle with smoked chicken & apple sausage was exemplary.
I could go on further...but you should just go and find out yourself.
