Cons: Maybe the carpet. It is clean but lots of stain although you won"t notice because of the color. Good customer service .
Location: Far from the restaurant and with continental breakfast should at least be included with the rate they are going.
Very good so far. Clean and near Elmira College where my daughter go to college.

Clean and convenient to Elmira College and Corning

Posted Aug 26, 2014
This was my third stay in a year. Very clean but room doors slam LOUD because there is no spring/brake mechanism and no bathroom fan so no privacy if someone's using bathroom above or below you can hear everything. Staff at front desk friendly and responsive re nonworking bedside light. TV nice size and good internet. Restaurant/Room Service Menu is very boring and not very healthy. Please add some veggie dishes and cut down on the carbs!!

RATES ARE A LITTLE HIGH, CONSIDERING THE AREA IN WHICH THE HOTEL IS LOCATED - DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET FROM A LARGE, VERY OLD LOW-COST HOUSING DEVELOPMENT. WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE MOVED TO A BETTER LOCATION IF A CANCELLATION WOULD HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED. ALSO, WE MISPLACED ONE ROOM KEYCARD, AND FOUND A $25 CHARGE ON OUR CREDIT CARD WHEN WE RETURNED HOME. I WOULD EXPECT A PHONE CALL OR EMAIL FROM THE HOTEL BEFORE PLACING THAT HIGH CHARGE ON OUR CARD. WE WILL NEVER ORDER HOTEL RESERVATIONS FROM EXPEDIA AGAIN NOW THAT WE SEE ALL OF THE "EXTRA" CHARGES WHICH WERE ADDED TO THE ROOM RATE. THIS HOTEL WAS NOT WORTH THE $140.86 PER NIGHT WE WERE CHARGED, PLUS THE $25 LOST KEY CARD CHARGE. NO MORE EXPEDIA & NO MORE HOLIDAY INNS!!

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Holiday Inn Elmira. We apologize that your stay didn't meet your expectations. The $25 charge to your credit card is a typical hold that is placed for incidentals. At check out, the hold is released and the funds are returned to your card. Your bank can take up to 10 days to place it back on your card. We invite you to contact our hotel directly to discuss any matters further or future reservations. We hope that you give us, and the Holiday Inn family, another opportunity to meet and exceed your expectations.

Updated hotel

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Clean, updated
Cons: Mattress was a little soft for my liking
Location: great shopping mall on the north end of the city, visited Harris Hill Soaring museum
Just stayed the one night while coming back from Albany NY. Good hotel! Some great sites too see, since I'm from an area that is flat, the ridges and valleys is something very different to see.

Overall a very nice place to stay overnight.

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: the late checkout… noon! :)
Cons: Guest laundry facilities should be on each floor.
Location: Not much to do nearby. The Mall is about 20 mins away though.
All was great except there wasn't a continental breakfast And there is only 1 washer and 1 dryer for guest laundry for the entire hotel.

Good but a little too crowded

Posted Jul 28, 2014
There are way too many rooms and hence too many occupants at any given time. This leads to issues like: (1) an almost full parking lot; (2) long wait times for breakfast at the restaurant (30-45 mins in our case) (3) a really long walk to our room from the lobby. An other thing: couldn't locate water fountains in the hotel too. Cleaning lady said there were none!

my husband and i were celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary. we had never stayed in Elmira and surrounding area so we thought we would check it out. the holiday inn was a great place to stay because it was close to so many interesting places to go. great restaurants like the hilltop inn , Watkins Glenn, Corning Glass works and many other great places to go visit. we also went on the dinner cruise at Captain Billy's cruises in Watkins Glenn and climbed to the top of the gorge in Watkins Glenn state park . there were also many antique stores and a nice famous brands outlet store right on main street Watkins Glenn. they had a wine tasting at the Watkins Glenn race track. there are so many wineries around the area also. Montour Falls n.y.. was a few miles away and they have several falls also. then there was beautiful Seneca lake and Cayuga lake all within a few miles. you could spend several weeks there and not see all there is to see. the holiday inn was a very nice place to stay and relax . they have a nice restaurant and lounge and a beautiful indoor swimming pool and gym.

central location

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: centrally located
Cons: rooms need to be renovated
Location: we took a privat tour - per car - of the large and wide spread Cornell University with arboratum, farm, own cheese and joghurt production....
unfortunately we were in the older part of the hotel (the 2 story level) which is in great need of renovations. the ceiling over the beds was bubbled up (from a water damage upstairs) The AC is an old "under the window" box that was very noicy.
