my husband and i were celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary. we had never stayed in Elmira and surrounding area so we thought we would check it out. the holiday inn was a great place to stay because it was close to so many interesting places to go. great restaurants like the hilltop inn , Watkins Glenn, Corning Glass works and many other great places to go visit. we also went on the dinner cruise at Captain Billy's cruises in Watkins Glenn and climbed to the top of the gorge in Watkins Glenn state park . there were also many antique stores and a nice famous brands outlet store right on main street Watkins Glenn. they had a wine tasting at the Watkins Glenn race track. there are so many wineries around the area also. Montour Falls n.y.. was a few miles away and they have several falls also. then there was beautiful Seneca lake and Cayuga lake all within a few miles. you could spend several weeks there and not see all there is to see. the holiday inn was a very nice place to stay and relax . they have a nice restaurant and lounge and a beautiful indoor swimming pool and gym.

central location

Pros: centrally located
Cons: rooms need to be renovated
Location: we took a privat tour - per car - of the large and wide spread Cornell University with arboratum, farm, own cheese and joghurt production....
unfortunately we were in the older part of the hotel (the 2 story level) which is in great need of renovations. the ceiling over the beds was bubbled up (from a water damage upstairs) The AC is an old "under the window" box that was very noicy.

Nice hotel for overnight stay in Finger Lakes area

Pros: Nice Location - The hotel is right off the interstate. Courteous Staff. Nice clean rooms.
Cons: Breakfast is not complementary
Location: Proximity to Corning Glass Museum, Watkins Glen and other state parks in Ithaca for a good day's work.
We were looking for a hotel to stay overnight during our trip to the Finger Lakes area. Holiday Inn is generally a safe bet and we were not disappointed with the selection. It was a nice comfortable stay with clean rooms, courteous staff in a good location. We checked-in around 8:30 PM on 4th of July and asked the hotel staff for recommendations to watch the fireworks. The lady gave us good directions and printed out a route map to the Coning Stadium.

Room cleanliness needs some work.

Cons: More attention to detail (cleanliness).
Location: Wine tasting. Need more dinning options.
Overall staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Room was clean, except for some dust dusts on the coffee machine and other parts.. After we use the coffee machine, it was not cleaned (glass container). Location was ok.

Good hotel

Location: Corning Museum of Glass is a wonderful experience.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. When I was having problems with the WiFi they researched the problem (provider outage) and called me as soon as the problem was fixed. When the dogs in the next room were barking the front desk checked up on them (owners were out so nothing the staff could do) and compensated me for the annoyance.

close to everything we needed

loved staying at the Holiday Inn. Everyone that worked there was helpful, friendly. The rooms were clean. The food was very good. The prices were reasonable.

Elmira riverfront downtown

Location was perfect. Room was as expected. Front desk friendly and courteous. Major and overwhelming negative was the morning breakfast experience. Obviously not enough staff for number of hotel guests. Wait for seating long (>30 min); once seated almost an hour till bkfst on the table - no coffee while waiting. Food was good though.
