Nice Hotel, Bad Neighborhood

Posted Jul 27, 2014
The staff at the front desk was very friendly. The hotel staff was a little less friendly. The suite that we upgraded to was nice, but the classic rooms are not something we'd want to spend the night in. The neighborhood though, the neighborhood is SUPER sketchy. We felt unsafe, and the locals made sure we knew we didn't belong with nasty looks. There were a few close calls with people following us down an alley and us turning out just in time. I would not recommend people stay here if they want an opportunity to walk the streets.

In the shadow of Vesuvius

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: old-world charm
Cons: inefficient air-conditioning
Although I spent 45 minutes navigating the streets of Ercolano - I don't speak Italian, and my google maps were unavailable due to technical reasons - before finding this charming hotel, it was well worth the effort. The hotel appears to have been an estate of a mid-level lord from times past. The ceilings are about 10 feet high; the grounds feature vines, a fountain, iron gates, and a perimeter wall; the rooms are quiet and well-appointed; parking for the car was secure behind the villa's walls. My only beef with the rooms was that the air-conditioning was inefficient and loud. I was a little bit disappointed with the restaurant menu selection. However, the quality of the food was very good. The reason for my visiting Ercolano was, of course, to tour the ruins of Herculaneum, which was buried by Vesuvius. As such, Villa Signorini was well-positioned, being about 10 minutes walk from the entrance to the archaeological site. If I return to Ercolano, I will seek out Villa Signorini.

Ideal for Herculaneum

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: secure, nicely laid out and very pleasant to be in. Food good and not expensive and staff helpful.
Cons: More pillows would be good! otherwise its fine.
Location: not many restaurants around and would not feel safe walking around the town at night, but Herculaneum is spectacular so worth the visit.
Ercolano is a small town that hosts the Herculaneum archeological site. It is a poor town generally with poor infrastructure, but the hotel is a very nice island of calm and safety.

Great hotel for visiting Herculeum and Pompeii

Posted Aug 30, 2013
Pros: The staff were helpful and friendly. They were very supportive.
Cons: The facilities in the room were basic like a motel. I would have liked a space to sit inside the room, instead you had to DIY outside on plastic chai.
Location: The immediate area around the hotel is not very attractive. However the grounds are well kept and comfortable. The driving in the area is a experienc.
The hotel is situated in a rougher area of the bay, however the walled gardens are pleasant and delightful. The staff were great and could not be more helpful. The food was good, especially the evening meal. The room was clean and basic but not very large. We had a SAT NAV and that was very difficult finding your way around the streets as they have simply closed off junctions of the motorway.

Outstanding Staff!

This hotel was wonderful. The food was out of this world and had a great price! The room was nice and we could easily walk to the ruins. It was a hike from the train station (to say the least!) and we did not see a cab in sight. Ercolano is not the most lovely of cities, but Villa Signorini did a great job of being accommodating to our needs. They offered to alter our dishes at dinner so we could have exactly what we wanted! The staff was outstanding! If I ever ventured again to Ercolano, I would go back. Also, there was a wedding in the courtyard and it did not restrict our stay. I was amazed they managed the hotel guests and a wedding without making either party feel less important!

A bit of luxury near the ruins of Herculaneum.

Posted Jun 3, 2013
Pros: Comfortable room. Friendly staff.
Cons: Shower door leaked, leaving a large puddle on the floor.
Location: Near to Herculaneum, not far from Pompeii and Naples, but modern Ercolano is a bit run down and not particularly attractive.
A hotel giving high quality service. Excellent staff. Secure parking. Great looking villa. We were also given a room upgrade, which was very nice! The hotel is not very far (about 1km) from the ruins of Herculaneum, which make a great day out (in some ways better than Pompeii, and definitely quieter). It is also only about 20 minutes drive from Naples airport, which is actually why we stopped there, and a similar distance from Pompeii. Vesuvius is even closer - but don't let the threat of it erupting put you off. Food was good, both breakfast and the evening meal in the restaurant. We would definitely recommend the hotel if you need somewhere in this area - either to visit Herculaneum or Pompeii, or to be close to the airport.

Exceptional Staff

Posted Apr 21, 2013
Pros: Exceptional staff!
Cons: Rough neighborhood that makes walking a dicey proposition.
Location: Tough neighborhood.
The front desk staff was exceptional in every way. The grounds, while needing some TLC, are still very nice. This is a nice sanctuary from the chaos of Naples.

Stay

Friendly and ever helpful staff made this an excellent choice. Very close to the Herculaneum archeological site. The setting inside the grounds is very tranquil, though the hotel is based in a rather seedy locale. An enjoyable stay.
