"Great service, friendly staff, excellent food"
We were not expecting much, and what a pleasant surprise. The hotel is well located, close to Wrexham, and yet up a country lane surrounded by green gardens and fields. The sound of birds and peaceful atmosphere was lovely on a warm Summer's evening, especially with terraces and gardens to sit in. The staff were exceptionally friendly and more professional than many 5 star top rated hotels we have stayed in. The room was extremely large, and very comfortable. The decor has been updated although it is a little less than interior designed and a little dated in taste. Somehow this did not take away from the charm of the place. I liked the uniqueness of the hotel, this is not just another corporate hotel room. There is a "spa" - small pool and gym, peaceful and adequate, not in the luxury market but again rather quaint and perfectly good. The restaurant and bar offered outstanding food, fresh, appropriate menu selection, well selected taste combinations, without being pretentious. The chef even produced handbaked cheese biscuits. Well above the usual hotel restaurant offering and not far off michelin star quality. Service again was excellent and despite the restaurant being full and eating in the bar one evening we were looked after with first rate care and attention. Wifi in the room at no extra charge was exactly as it should be. All round caring, friendly, great service, excellent food, good location with a family feel.

Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa

"Nice Hotel and spa"
We stayed here for 2 nights when I came to Chester to do the marathon. The spa was a godsend on the Sunday afternoon after the run! The spa is nicely set out with a large pool, although we had to wait to get in on Sunday afternoon as it was too busy. The room was well presented if a little small although it had everything we needed. The food was brilliant for the whole stay from the sandwich on arrival to breakfast on the last morning. The only disappointment was that Ciro's brassiere didn't do a set menu on Sunday night only a carvery. This meant we ate in Nelsons instead. The food was top notch in there though. I thoroughly enjoyable stay, will come again. If in Chester try Pacino's on St Anne's St. Don't be put off by the location and appearances from the outside!

Ty'n y Wern Guest House

"Great location, lovely staff, highly recommended"
I stayed for two nights for a short break on my own and found Ty'n Y Wern an excellent place to stay. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, the room had good facilities and an amazing view. The bed was very comfortable and I had a good nights sleep both nights. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice and the two evening meals I had were excellent and good value for money. Just 15 minutes walk from Llangollen this guest house is ideally situated away from the middle of town but with easy access to it.

"Best Hotel in Wales."
Second time i`ve stayed here, i wouldn`t dream of going anywhere else now. Location is first rate, right on the river Dee, a stones throw from the steam railway and horse drawn canal barges. Rooms are small but, spotlessly clean, the staff treat you like one of the family, nothing is too much trouble. Shower is hot and easy to operate, all towels, soap, etc is provided along with tea and coffee in the room. TV was a trifle small for me with my bad eyesight this was mounted high on the wall so, you can only watch it while lying on the bed, which was so comfortable i kept dozing off whilst watching it ! Last week was very quiet, i`m assured the place gets packed in the Summer and at weekends. I found it very peaceful while a was there. The food is amazing, the restaurant is situated next to the bar which is handy. I chose the Chilli Concane on the first night, its advertised as "Hot and Spicy". Which it is!! If you don`t like hot and spicy, order something else! It`s exactly what it says it is. The menu is very extensive and there`s something for all. That Chilli was so good i had it again the second night. The breakfast is big and very well cooked, i opted to leave the Black Pudding off. What really makes this hotel is the staff, Josie the landlady is a real character, along with family members and the irripresable Alison, they`ve got it all sewn up. I would recommend this hotel to the Queen and Prince Phillip, its that good. I`ll be back next year! Steve Rutland. Sussex
