Superb Riad tucked away in old Essaouira
Parked the car at Bab Marrakesh and hired a trolley man for MAD20 who took us to the Riad. Was welcomed personally by Camilla and Jean-Charles. Thoroughly enjoyed our short overnight stay. Will definitely recommend to friends

Had a wonderful stay
Overall enjoyed our stay. Loved the decor, food was excellent, comfortable bed, was nice and quiet. Enjoyed having breakfast on the roof terrace. The owners went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

This Ryad was one of the best that we have stayed at during our trip across multiple cities in Morocco. The room and bathrooms were clean and beautifully furnished. The breakfast was exceptional especially the fruit bowl. Jerome and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The only suggestion I have is possibly installing de-humidifiers in the rooms as humidity is high by the ocean and you could feel it in the sheets/clothing but would definitely recommend staying here!

Beautiful riad, great pricing, wonderful design. Owners are hospitable and spent the time to tell us about the area and recommend places to see and eat at. Amazing rooftop and view from rooftop. Nice breakfast. Really great service and value for money. Only thing that can be improved is the curtains in the room. They are a bit stuffy and smell... need to be aired or replaced. Other than that, a perfect stay. I highly recommend!!!

A secret oasis in Essaouira's medina
Beautifully designed and decorated riad, Ryad Lyon Mogador is a secret oasis amidst being in the center of Essaouira's 18th century medina. My room was clean, well-lit, and charminly decorated of soft white and soft light brown colored linens and the traditional tan colored clay walls. The rooftop, also the breakfast area, provides a panoramic view of the medina, sqala, and the Atlantic ocean. Full breakfast consists of eggs, yogurt w/ fruits, msemen (phyllo crepes) w/ honey, semolina bread, assorted jams, freshly squeezed orange juice, and coffee or mint tea. The staff were fantastic! Friendly and helpful w/ recommendations on where to eat and what yo see/do, and accommodating. We left our luggage after check out and came back in the afternoon after more sightseeing. Wished I could've stayed longer!!!

This was the nicest ryad of all the ryads we stayed at while traveling in Morocco. The bed was especially comfortable and warm, which is of an extra importance in ryads as they normally have no heating and can be chilly at night. The location is good, the terrace view very pleasing, and the morning breakfast has enough of the variety. Would stay again!

Everyone Wants to Come Back
The rooftop is amazing, with 360-degree views that include the ocean. It's one of my favorite breakfast spots in all my (many) travels and also a great outdoor spot for quiet relaxation. Jerome and Karol are kind, helpful hosts. My room was clean and comfortable. And, really, every other guest I met said they want to come back.

Riad Lyon Mogador hit the spot!
We stayed for 2 nights in Essaouira and i am very happy that we picked Riad Lyon Mogador. The Riad is spectacularly pretty and well located in the heart of the Medina. We were able to easily walk around the city walls and to the beach and other landmarks in Essaouira. What made the stay really special is the kindness and care from the hosts Jerome and Karol. From the moment we checked in with Jerome, we knew we were in good hands. We got directions, restaurant recommendations and local tips from Jerome which were all fantastic. Another highlight is breakfast on the terrace. Not only is the breakfast delicious, but sitting in the winter sun and getting views over Essaouira are really fab. Jerome stopped by to chat a few times and make sure everything was going well. I cannot recommend a stay at the Lyon Mogador highly enough.

Perfect town, perfect riad. I’ll be back!
While my first impression was amazing,it only got better. My breakfast the next morning was exactly what I wanted and she let me choose! The rooftop is sublime, the riad overall is the nicest I’ve ever stayed in and honestly one of the nicer places I have ever stayed in any country. There is so much charm and heart in this place. From the light fixtures, to the beautiful neutral palette of colors in the rooms, to the incredible succulents adorning the rooftop. The owners of the riad are also such a delight. I stand by my first impression and wish I could live there, well maybe not forever, but I would like to stay for a long time and copy all their decorating ideas!! Thank you again

A no brainer. Fantastic in every way. Owners friendly and run a fine tuned and professional Riad. Breakfast is 1st class and plentiful. Roof terrace lovely to have breakfast on and relaxing. Décor original and tasteful. Wi fi good, Plumbing works well and plenty of hot water. Staff delightful. Everywhere spotless as is room. We returned whilst they were cleaning our room one day, carpet removed, bed on blocks to clean underneath and windows being cleaned inside and out. Can't fault it. Location in Medina central and safe. Essaouira is a nice place and always felt safe day and night.

Perfect Riad in Essaouira
Our stay was incredible! This stylish Riad is almost hidden inside Essouaira's city walls, in a perfect location. We were greeted by the owner, Karole, who served us mint tea, showed us how to navigate the city, and recommended activities and restaurants, which she later scheduled for us. Despite our limited French and her limited English, her kindness was easy to understand and we couldn't have asked for a better stay! Then, there was the breakfast. It couldn't have been more perfect! The Riad accommodated allergies easily and served decadent meals on the roof terrace with stunning views of the ocean, beaches, and city. I would highly recommend this Riad and hope to return to it!

Best riad in town!
The best riad I have stayed in during my month's visit. Everyone made me feel right at home. Great roof top terrace to enjoy. They also made several lovely pots of tea for me as well as packed me a huge take away picnic breakfast for my early bus ride to Marrkech. No need to look elsewhere. This place has it all! Thank you for making my stay so memorable.

Beautiful Riad with great host
We (2 people) stayed here for two nights. The host (Carol) was just awesome! She always was in close touch with us via email before our arrival wanting to know when we would arrive so they could prepare for our arrival. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely housekeeper (I believe she speaks primarily French) and we were shown our room. After settling in we made our way to the terrace to meet our host Carol who is originally from France. We were treated with refreshments. Carol's first language is French but was very still helpful and understandable in English. We unfortunately did not get to meet her husband during our stay though, I'm sure he would have been equally as helpful. Apparently Carol's husband would be doing all the greeting/instructions if English is preferred but Carol did a great job still! She gave us a map and the breakdown of the medina and recommendations for restaurants etc etc - very helpful! She also made sure we were happy with our room right in the beginning. The riad on the inside is very beautiful and has a great architectural build. I would suggest booking a room where the wall that seperates the bathroom from the bedroom is completely sealed at the top. Carol was kind enough to let us keep our baggage at the riad after check out time as we had a later bus in the day back to Marrakesh and didn't want to drag our bags around.

Lovely hotel located in the heart of the medina
We stayed here for one night in early February. The riad is in an ideal location just off the main shopping street. It's very easy to find unlike many places in Morocco! On arrival we were greeted with mint tea and moroccan biscuits and given advice about what to do and where the eat. The staff were very friendly and spoke very good english. We were offered a choice of room but were happy with the first one shown to us. Clean with modern decoration, it was on the small side but perfectly reasonable for a few nights stay. The bathroom was large and modern and towels and toiletries were provided. Breakfast the following morning was served on the roof terrace. I require a gluten free diet and this was well-catered for with eggs, fresh fruit and nuts and yoghurt. The owners kindly let us keep our room until our departure late afternoon free of charge. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Me and my Girlfriend stayed at Ryad Lyon Mogador and could have not been more happy. The roof terrace was lovely to relax and watch seas waves. The Breakfast every morning was verified and delicious and the room was perfect. Would come back and again and recommend staying in the beautiful ryad.

Fantastic Riad, Lovely Owner!
This is a lovely riad, with a very sweet new owner. The view from the terrace is amazing and the breakfasts we had on the terrace were the best we had in Morocco and we stayed at 6 different places. In addition to the usual sweet breads at breakfast we got a lovely fruit salad and eggs; a very welcome change! If you are coming to town by bus, take Supratour as it lets you out right at the gate, the closest you can get by taxi. The riad isn't too hard to find, people were helpful giving us directions- for free. You can also get one of the cart drivers to take your bags for 20 dirham, and have an added bonus of a guide. As with most of Morocco I found the beds very hard and the riad cold as we were there in January. A heater would have been a nice addition. The owner made a couple great dinner recommendations which we enjoyed and she was very helpful with tips for our trip, ensuring we had a great time. It was a great stay

This place saved us! A friend and I checked in to a hostel just a few doors down and quickly decided that it wasn't an acceptable place to stay. We booked Lyon Mogador online because it looked like a nice upgrade from the usual traveler hostel we stay in. We were not disappointed. Didier welcomed us when we arrived and let us pick from two different rooms. Both were beautiful and clean. An hour later we met him on the roof for tea and for him to show us a map of the city. Although we were only there for 1 night the lovely French couple went above and beyond. Breakfast is free and delicious and served with a smile on the rooftop. I was laying out the next day on the rooftop and they brought me up a cold soda. A pleasant surprise. The riad itself is beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable but the service was the real breath of fresh air. Thank you Lyon Mogador for saving our trip to Essaouira!

Love it!
Beautiful, simple and elegant ryad in a very convenient location within the medina of Essaouira. The owners are extremely pleasant and welcoming, but give you the feeling that their home is yours and that you are free to come and go as you like. It's a safe haven at busy times of the day, when you are tired from trying to prevent yourself from buying even more spices than you could possible ever get through! The roof terrace is a fantastic place for breakfast and for long evenings in the sun - the views of the city and the ocean are wonderful. The breakfast itself is excellent, with lots of strong coffee, fruits, eggs, freshly baked breads. The room was well-appointed, stylish and clean. I cannot recommend this ryad enough.

We spent 4 nights here. Amazing hosts, so friendly and helpful to make the most of our stay. Breakfast every day was a delight. Always something different and delicious. We spent most the morning on the roof terrace having a leisurely breakfast! Rooms contemporary Moroccan, clean and lovely. Location right in the Medina close to everything but surprisingly quiet.

Wonderful oasis!
What a lovely warm welcome from the ryad owners, they make you feel right at home due the the fact they seem to love what they do and come across as such natural, perfect hosts. We stayed here for 5 nights in February and loved it, the breakfast was so delicious and varied daily, which we ate on the lovely terrace with our new feathered friends (fondly named ringo and sh.thead) who guarded their patch whilst waiting patiently for a bite of our coissant. The ryad is a beautiful ancient building so can get a bit chilly on a night but a warm heater is provided. After reading some other reviews on cold and dampness then don't stay here if you want modern radiators, go to a hotel!! Just turn your bedding down and leave your heater on for a while whilst you go out, as it airs the bedding, problem solved. This place was gorgeous as was the hosts, and we would highly recommend others to share this experience.

A gem in the heart of Essaioura, the couple who owns the guest house are amazing hosts. My brother and I stayed for 2 nights in December and really enjoyed the hospitality. The rooms are all nicely themed and decorated, very clean and neat. The hotel is located on a quite alley and has secured entry, close to all the restaurants. The hosts are very helpful and will provide directions and recommendations. Breakfast is served on the terrace and is nothing short of sumptuous! I will recommend anyone to stay here and would definitely come back to stay if I go back to Essaioura!

Great Riad in Medina
This is very pleasant Riad in a quiet spot in the Medina not far from the souk. It is run by a delightful French couple who are excellent hosts making one feel most welcome. Having lived in the area for 7 years they are able to also give very good recommendations for restaurants, sports and tourist attractions. The Riad has been renovated to a high standard internally. The rooms are very cosy and comfortable. There is a superb roof terrace on which the excellent breakfast is served. I would certainly return here as it is very good value for money and provides a most pleasant experience.

One of Essaouria's best Riads.
Lovely little hotel that couldn't have been in a better location. On a quiet little street right in the middle of the Medina. Views of the sea and the rooftops from the roof terrace where breakfast is served and tea throughout the day if you wish it. Some people find the Medina a bit overwhelming but we found it completely safe. Its fun getting lost and you soon get to know your way around. Compared to the Souks in Marrakech it's quite tame. Lorraine, Didier and the rest of the staff could not have been more friendly or more helpful. They were always on hand to give help or advice which made things very easy and relaxing.

Wonderful Riad in the heart of the Medina
This was a truly delightful place to stay for a few day in Essaouira. This Riad beautiful restored and much more interesting then staying in some new construction. That said, there are some drawbacks to staying in this (or really any) riad. 1. The rooms are a bit damp. It's a seaside town and the buildings are all close together and poorly ventilated. I'm not sure there's much you can do about that. 2. The entrance to the riad is down a dark deserted overpass (about 50 yards from the main street). It's perfectly safe but if darkened cobblestone streets make you nervous this may not be for you. My mom is an American who doesn't travel much and this would make her nervous. That said, once you get in this riad it's lovely. The couple who run it are friendly and go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable and know your way to the sites. Breakfast on the roof is both delicious and beautiful. I would definetly stay here again.

An interesting experience
First, we arrived at night to find there were no rooms with two beds...according to the Expedia website I booked a room with two double beds. The owner put us in two separate rooms for the night---and said he would arrange the other because they had no rooms with two beds. He was very pleasant but we were tired and jet lagged and disappointed. They did split a large bed into two --- meaning that we were in two small beds---not particularly comfortable. The Ryad is damp and cold. Even the sheets feel damp. It was adequately cleaned. I'd stayed in the medina before but this area seemed particularly "lively".The morning breakfasts on the roof were delicious and far more than expected. The staff was smiling and welcoming. It was a bit strange that there was never anyone at reception. That felt a bit odd to me but perhaps for some people the freedom of coming and going without encountering staff might be liberating. The third day we got up and there was no hot water. They said it was being fixed. We did not have hot water the rest of our stay, only lukewarm. There were things I loved about this place but the dampness and the lack of hot water really made me think twice about recommending it to anyone. To the lovely staff there, sorry.
