Pros: Location
Cons: Temperature control in rooms, friendlier desk staff, free internet.
Nice hotel near train station and central shopping area which is a plus. Charge for internet. No tea kettle or iron in room. Appears to cater more to male travelers than women (no skirt hangers, etc). Room was hot, even with heat control to lowest settling. Reception staff semi-efficient, but not friendly.

Ideally located for Christmas market and shopping. Room okay, bathroom very small. Very friendly staff at reception. Complementary apples and cookies with hot tea or coffee. Breakfast buffet at 19 Euro too expensive in comparison with cheaper nearby restaurants and pubs. ( 7 to 10 Euro for same all you can eat buffet )

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Essen

Pros: Clean, beautiful and comfortable room.
Cons: Get parking lot closer.
Location: Large mall area to shop in, but not the best area after dark. If you rented a car, you have to walk about 1/8th of a mile through a dark area.
Great hotel in the middle of Essen. The only problem is Essen is not really the place to be for a family vacation. Get away from Essen and enjoy Germany. There are some nice shops and malls around the hotel that are ok during the day, but I wouldn't be walking around at night. The Subway is right in front so that is convenient. The hotel is great. Rooms are large and comfortable. Bed was king sized and very nice. My three real complaints about the hotel itself were: 1) No fan circulation in the bathroom. It gets warm with no air moving about. The rest of the room is ok in that aspect. 2) No ice machines or vending machines (at least ice would have been nice) (yes, I know I'm not in the US). 3) The staff was nice enough, but one fellow wasn't too helpful. Twice he led us astray. We asked for directions on two different occasions and he gave vague answers like 'it's just over there'. Most hotel staff will pull out a map (which one did later) and show you where to go. Don't let these comments detract you from your decision. Overall, it was a great stay. Highly recommended.

Location: Not too much to see or do around the area.
The hotel does not have free wifi in the room or lobby. It is free only on 1 computer at registration lobby.

Nice Hotel. Central Location

Nice hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice bar with a very relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is opposite the central train station which is an excellent location if travelling each day.

Hotel room was clean and spacious. Staff was very friendly, professional and helpful. However breakfast was expensive and you have to pay hourly for internet access.

Overall, a beautiful experiance

Pros: Our favourite aspect was by far the room - spacious, clean and comfortable!
Location: Location is great, a 30 second walk from the main train station and lots of shops!
A beautiful hotel, the staff were fantastic and we couldn't fault the room at all. The location was great, we actually got lost because we couldn't believe it was so close to the hbf! We would have to recommend eating in the restaurant for dinner, we had a Friday dinner when there was an offer on and the waiter was more than accommodating and the food absolutely superb. We will definitely be visiting again in the future, as a couple we weren't on business but the convenience was fabulous for us to explore Germany for the weekend! Rooms were beautiful and the bed extra comfy - thank you movenpick!
