“Very good :-)”

Although this hotel was on the outskirts of Colchester, it was only a 5 - 10 minute taxi journey to the centre. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Room was clean. Bed was comfy!! Very resonable price for the quality of service and room.

“Good Stopover”

Would prefer breakfast to be included in price and coffee supplies in room were minimal. Found it difficult to alter heating when it turned chilly.

“Room good. Restaurant Bad!!!”

Room was quite nice,and the hotel it's self is quite good,bit old fashioned. The service is the Restaurant is probably the worse I've ever had. 15 mins to get seated 20 mins to take our order Had to remind the waitress I'd ordered a drink(she was watching Xfactor) 20 mins waiting for desert,had to remind them.The answer was it's on it's way.10 mins later it arrived. I'm sure it was on a plate in the fridge?? The menu was the most basic I've ever seen. I had a burger and it tasted a bit lardy.The salad was quite nice. They had place mats that your Granny might still have.

“Not impressed at all”

My family and I stayed at the Ramada overnight as we were attending a graduation ceremony at Essex University. We advised that we would be arriving at around 10-11 pm - when we arrived the front door appeared to be locked. Eventually the tired looking receptionist called over to one of his colleagues to let us in. No one offered us any help with our bags, we were just pointed vaguely to a corner and told "your rooms are that way". The bathroom floors in both rooms were a disgrace - really grubby and stained only one bath towel in one of the twin rooms. The shower would not work in one room, there were crumbs on the floor by the beds in the other room. The breakfast service was appalling.full english (mostly cold and unappetising - serve yourself), and a continental which consisted of the waitress slamming down one slice of toast and watery coffee and saying "help yourself to the breakfast"! As we waited to checkout, the female receptionist continued chatting to one of her colleagues before she deigned to attend to us, and other guests also waiting. The place is an utter disgrace and the staff should all be re-trained or advised that their services could be better used elsewhere (where?!. Grubby rooms, unpleasant staff, poor service, lousy food - I strongly advise you to go elsewhere!

“Not bad hotel”

Although we were told the room was ready, they had not provided a bed for our daughter, even though the booking was clearly for three. The restaurant food was really only OK, too much use of packet sauces for it to be any better than that
