Ideal for us as we were coming to a party in BrainPosted Jul 24, 2015
Pros: Clean and comfortable and easy parking
Cons: Can't see what can be done but it was a bit difficult with bad knees to get up the numerous stars!
Location: Went to Rhs gardens and to the museum at North Weald - both great
Everything really good - lovely staff and all so much nicer than a premier inn!

next to a very busy, noisy roadPosted Jul 14, 2015
Pros: closeness to town centre for shoppng, cinema, travel, pubs etc
Cons: bathrom shabby with signs of damp-brilliant shower though!
Location: train/bus stations just minutes walk away. shops/pubs/restaurants five minutes walk away - plenty choice of each to suit all tastes
fine to stay in as very short walk to town centre but needs updating and refreshing a bit.

A comfortable stay at the CountyPosted May 28, 2015
When we arrived in the evening to register we were pleasantly surprised to be told we would be staying in a suite. On opening our room (No 44) we were taken aback by the overall size of the room, which included a queen-sized bed, settee and two armchairs with a coffee table as well as the usual mini-bar, tea/coffee facilities, large flatscreen TV and DAB radio. The bathroom had a shower cubicle as well as a roll-top bath, heated towel rail etc We had a very comfortable stay in our room and enjoyed a reasonably-priced continental breakfast. The reception and waiting staff were prompt and courteous and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending a stay at this hotel which is also conveniently placed for the station as we arrived by rail.

Central locationPosted Nov 18, 2014 on Hotels
We stayed here literally as an overnight stay so we didn't eat in the restaurant but used it as a base. It was in a very good position and was easily walkable into the city centre. There was no problem leaving our car in the free car park (Travelodge charge significantly per 24 hours). The room was a little small for the amount of furniture there was in it - almost as if they were trying to justify the rack rate which was a little on the expensive side. The staff were very pleasant and helpful but the room itself was a bit of a hike down some very higgledy piggledy corridors. On the whole I wouldn't stay here if I had to pay full rate (without breakfast)- we used our Hotels.com free night - but it is very central and convenient.
