Room was clean and owner provided everything for our one night stay. Pub had a lot of character although needed some tlc in some areas. Bed was very comfortable.

Just what I needed for my stay
I found the Dog Inn to be in a great location when staying in Halstead. The pub landlord, Richard, gave me a warm and friendly welcome and showed me my room on arrival to ensure I was happy with the room and its facilities which I was. This was greatly appreciated. I had a comfortable two night stay and the breakfasts were both good too. Real ales available in the bar in the evening. Halstead has a thriving high street with a nice range of useful shops and restaurants. There is a pleasant public park and I enjoyed a good few hours in the large Antiques centre in a former Mill building. Many thanks Richard for an enjoyable stay

We had a well equipped en-suite room in this convenient location. Our only complaint is that the mattresses were a little firm. There was a nice bar area. Parking was very convenient. Perfect for a one night stay.

Lovely, friendly Inn
Ultra friendly and nice little inn. We were staying overnight for a wedding locally and this was an ideal location. Small but well-appointed room with some nice little touches (loads of tea, coffee and water) and a great friendly welcome from the landlord. We had a couple of drinks in the pub before the wedding and all the pub regulars were charming and welcoming. And the pint (s) of mild I had wete sublime. Would definitely use this Inn again if in the area.

One nighter at the Dog Inn
The Inn was as you'd expect for an old building and was a nice and comfortable. Richard and his wife provided a warm friendly and relaxed atmosphere throughout our stay. Breakfast was a decent choice and well presented with a bottomless tea and coffee pot.

One of the best pub/hotel in halstead
The dog inn is a traditional pub the landlord and staff was fantastic and the breakfast was out of this world. I would stay when i am back in the area.

Very small room even if it were for one person. Certainly not suitable for a twin room. En-suite was also very small with the wash basin so small that you could hardly get a face flannel in it. The toilet area was too small and hardly any room to move. The staff were very pleasant and a good breakfast. Overall, not worth the money and would not stay there again.

I stayed here for one night with my wife. I booked it as a friend and his partner were going to stay here to. I didn’t check any reviews beforehand as I thought for £89 pounds it would of been ok. Probably one of the worse rooms I’ve ever stayed in. We actually enquired in the village fornother rooms to stay in but to no avail. The beds were worn, squeaky and the springs were pinging. The carpet must be 200 years old the shower and toliet is seriously graby. The room hasn’t been dusted in weeks. I could go on. I’d just stay away if I was you!

The Spider Inn
Found spiders in my room every day, on the ceiling above the bed, in the shower, round the windows, next to the toilet, next to the bed and I left with bite marks on my legs, probably spider bites. Room didn't get cleaned once in my 4 night stay, so I used the same towel all week and the bin was overflowing by the time I left. The room was lovely and quiet considering it's a pub and there's plenty of places to eat nearby.

You get what you pay for.
The room was pretty dirty. Mildew covering the bath and the toilet was disgusting. The walls had chunks of paint missing. The lady who checked us in was also pretty miserable. However the other staff were very friendly. The beds were comfortable. But the price was pretty reasonable.

Sorry but wasent impressed with this hotel.u came in by back door the outside is a disgrace. There is a damp smell leading up to rooms.very old decor and badly needing a refurbished.there is mould around bath and shower rail.room was very cold as there is only a small heater in room and wasent on for our arrival.we were never asked if room was OK or if we needed anything.poor poor poor.

We had a wedding to attend in the area, so needed somewhere cheap and cheerful. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome by Jane and that warmth continued throughout our stay. The room we stayed in, had all the amenities we needed, it was clean and warm. I would recommend this B&B to anyone and would definitely stay again. Good breakfast selection provided also.

Convenient for Town Centre
We stayed here just for one night as we were attending a party in the town. We didn't spend much time in the room other than to sleep. The room was basic and a bit tired but very clean with tea and coffee making equipment and TV. Overall we found it good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast in the morning was lovely.

Quite adequate b/b handy for the one night.
We were going to a wedding nearby and it was quite adequate for the one night. The bed was not too comfortable and the ensuite was rather small but it was clean ant the breakfast was very good.
