Conveniently placed hotelPosted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The staff were very friendly - the bar man on Saturday evening was brilliant and couldn't do enough for us.
Cons: Air conditioning in the rooms and some soft drinks in the room.
We stayed here for one night on route to Colchester - we knew about the location having plane noise but having arrived at 19:00 on a Saturday evening it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting !! Rooms were clean - we had a small room but it had everything we needed. We had a great stay here

Lack lustrePosted Jul 18, 2014
Not too from Stansted Aiport, so convenient if you can find it. But in direct flight path so jet noise is very loud. Wifi not working in rooms as with nearly every hotel. Come on, wise up hotels. Travelers need wifi. Breakfast was trad English so nostaglic but heart attack fodder. Rooms and bathrooms looking a little dated and 80's.

Convenient locationPosted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Everything except the aircraft noise.
Location: We stayed at the hotel to visit Duxford airshow and the hotel was well situated.
Because the hotel is on the flight path and very close to Stanstead airport there was a lot of noise from low flying aircraft. Take ear plugs if you want a lie in. This was the only drawback as everything else was ok. Rooms were well furnished, clean, and modern.

Not HappyPosted Jun 20, 2014
Pros: Food very good
Cons: Divert all planes arriving overhead (approx 30 metres above hotel - on flight path to Stanstead) and stop people in planes waving as they land
Location: Catch a plane
No Wi-Fi in annex section - WATCH OUT !!!! Room looked nice but shower is poor - pressure high to low along with temperature

Beautiful bijou hotel, two minutes from the M11.Posted Jun 20, 2014
Pros: The staff are very friendly and it is well run with a lovely lake outside.
Cons: It would be perfect if it had either a gym, a pool or both.
The rooms in the coach house are smaller but still nicely furnished and considerably quieter than in the main building. Even though it is just over the road, it makes a massive difference

Nice & close to the runwayPosted Jun 17, 2014
I think it should not be kept a special secret that the hotel is situated about 500 yards from where the planes hit the runway when landing

Disappointing hotelPosted Jun 17, 2014
Our room, which was in a separate building from the main hotel, was very small - you could just get around each side of the bed. The TV wasn't working, the view from the window was a fenced in area which was overgrown, beyond that was an old caravan and a rusty old container. The noise from the planes directly overhead was immense (the room wasn't soundproofed). My husband asked reception if we could upgrade, which we did. The room was OK, apart from the fact that there was a dirty towel in the wardrobe and the bathroom bin hadn't been emptied. The room was quite stuffy, even though we had the window open, so not a good night's sleep as we could hear planes overhead. On the plus side our meal was excellent and the staff were very attentive. On check-out the next day, the receptionist asked if we had enjoyed our stay so we told her of the problems we had with the first room, and with the upgraded room. She was very apologetic and gave us a discount on our bill. To sum up - staff and food very good, condition of hotel and housekeeping need attention. Would we go back? Probably not.

The room I stayed in was in an annex located across the road from the hotel in a converted old building. The room was small and basic. There is no wifi available in the annex and getting a mobile phone signal was difficult. The noise of other guests coming and going from the annex was very noisy and as aircraft flew over head the windows rattled quite badly. The tv signal also cut out as planes passed overhead. I can't comment on the rooms in the main building but would advise against staying in the annex.

Two night stayPosted Jun 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
Lovely hotel in a lovely location. Very comfy bed! Only criticism is that our bathroom although generally clean could do with some attention - some mould in grouting and vent needed a really good clean.
