“Just a few steps from the Willamette River”

The room was perfect - with full amenities, HD TV's in the living room and the bedroom, a coffee maker, coffee (!)... very nice. And just across Club Drive is McMeniman's North Bank, a wonderful, medium priced cafe whose back patio has a wonderful view of the mighty Willamette River. There are great walking and biking trails nearby... and within a mile or so of groceries stores and cafe's. So the setting is fabulous, peaceful yet not far from the action. The staff is very nice and accommodating. There is no coffee shop on the premises, but as I say good eating is not far away.

Area recommendations

Not that familiar with Eugene, but the U of O enivorons has the nice cafes, bars, restaurants and art spaces, as well as parks and recreations.

May and later is the best time of year for sunny, mild weather

Getting there

There is a nice train station in Eugene, that would be the way to get there if one has the time - beautiful, green countryside. Most big towns (like Los Angeles) do not have direct flights to Eugene. I had a brief stopover in San Francisco getting there.

Getting around

Probably best to go by car (as opposed to public transportation), traffic isn't bad... but the city is more of a sprawl, with alot of twists and turns. So get your google maps or Tom Tom GPS

What to pack

Might want to pack a sweater or jacket and a small umbrella in non Summer months.

Must see

There are a lot of beautiful sites, particularly the Willamette River (and footbridges traversing it), and river walk adjacent to it, the site of the Animal House house, Pre's Rock where the great track star Steve Prefontain was killed, the Saturday market, the Matthew Knight center (for basketball and other events), the U of O track meets

Dining

I can recommend McMenamin's North Bank restaurant on the Willamette, Glenwood cafe near UofO, Todd's Steak and Eggs, Red Agave near the Eugene train station,

“Everything and more!”

Very nice room with full kitchen!! I didn't need that but would have been great for family...Frig is always nice tho...Very helpful staff.

Area recommendations

Rent a bike and ride the great trail around the river. Drive to a winery!
