“A great start”

The first of two stop overs, this was a great start. the staff were friendly and the room lovely, plenty of space and nicly decorated. The room had air conditioning which was a blessing. The valet parking was also a great help.

A sort of elegant Edwardian style hotel, but more luxurious The foyer and bar areas are ideal after sight seeing. The restauant ia a delight. Overall the staff were excellent and a great value for money city hotel.

“Great City Centre Hotel”

We stayed here for just one night because we wanted to visit Chartres Cathedral and we thought this was right next to it. In fact it is just a very short walk away and we were very satisfied with the location. There are several restaurants and cafes nearby and we had a great meal in a creperie. the Cathedral opens at 8.30, which was good for us as we were on our way home soon after that. The hotel was very quiet - we had a room facing into the central courtyard. Apart from the usual French hard bed we thought the room was fine. We had a drink in the bar in the evening, with a lively crowd of locals present. Many of the guests appeared to be more business than pleasure, and the staff worked hard to provide everything that was needed. They were very helpful in assisting us in parking in their nearby locked up garage.

“Lovely comfortable hotel in Chartres”

There are very few truly comfortable and pleasant hotels for a one night stay on way to Calais from the southwest of France - but this is one! Food is quite good but fairly expensive. Not Michelin star but reasonable.
