Fabulous StayPosted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: Friendly staff, comfortable accommodations
Location: Old Town was very fun...it was the 1st Saturday of the month so they were open late for "Arts Alive"
We were just driving back from the Oregon Coast to the Bay Area and wanted a comfortable place to stay. The hotel staff was extremely gracious and helpful. We had dinner in the restuarant which was absolutely fabulous. It was a very fun experience and well worth a visit.

Eureka stayPosted Oct 11, 2013
We really enjoyed everyone that we interacted with at the hotel, the added perks of happy hour and the cookies were very nice. Breakfast was very pleasant. Thanks for a great stay!

Excellent facilities for a well kept icon.Posted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: Quality customer service, staff, restaurant , location, everything !
Cons: Do not change a thing.
Location: A vehicle may be needed to see the local sights but a few minutes walk only to the river.
A warm welcome, ample parking, a bar for pre dinner drinks, an excellent restaurant with the largest collection of wines I have come across ( over 3500 varieties ). The chef was a quality cook and the meals were excellent. The room did not disappoint, with all amenities available. It was a real pleasure to stay at this hotel and we will definitely stay again if we have the chance.

Not a great townPosted Sep 9, 2013
Hotel was very nice and dinner exceeded expectations. Breakfast was mediocre and disappointing especially after a great dinner. The only time I've talked to a front desk about a breakfast and only because dinner was exceptional!....Two different chefs apparently!!!!

A very nice property in the middle of a not so nice town. If you HAVE to stay in Eureka, this is the place to stay. Great restaurant, epic winelist.

Carter House - Eureka - CAPosted Aug 22, 2013
Pros: Every thing
Cons: Nothing. All just beautiful and a one night stop over is just NOT enough.
Location: In the historic corner of the town, the hotel has a nearby waterside walk where some very beautiful old and interesting properties can seen.
En Route from San Francisco to Seattle on coast road, Eureka ia a lovely place to stop over. Carter House has great staff - all with lovely and varied personalities, at check in, at the bar and in the restaurant - both in evening for dinner and then in morning for breakfast. The room / suite had too many facilities to use on a one night stop over, and we wished we could have stayed longer to make better use. Dinner, although not inexpensive, was excellent. the choice of wines was FAR too extensive for a non expert (myself) and could be rationalised a bit. Complimentary breakfast was nice.

Quick stopover in EurekaPosted Jul 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
My wife and I stayed here for one night as part of a 17 day west coast vacation. The hotel is a classic Victorian but it's actually multiple buildings. We stayed in the building that wasn't shown (to my memory) in the pictures on Hotel.com. Our building was diagonally across the street from the cool Victorian place and had the 301 restaurant in it. We arrived in the early evening and the girl that checked us in must've been new or something. She seemed unsure of what to do - we were supposed to get a glass of wine but never did. She brought us to our room which looked nice but had one of the worst, most uncomfortable ever I've ever slept on. Also, we were on the ground floor at the back of the hotel so it seemed very possible that someone could come in through the window if they wanted to. It didn't feel very secure to us. Finally, there was no air-conditioning. This was a hot week on the west coast, and while cooler in Eureka I still would've liked to cool off a bit. Breakfast was included and they try to make it special for you. They tell you to sit and enjoy the continental breakfast - bread, granola, yogurt, cereal, etc (all tasty) - and that someone will be by to tell us what today's hot food selection is. The waitress came by and told us that they had - get ready - eggs, bacon, and potatos. Wow. They gave you a choice of how to cook the eggs. They included 2 strips of bacon and a scoop of potatos. Nothing special really.

Loved the whole experience, from driving up to the charming hotel, to enjoying a complimentary glass of wine, to have the most wonderful dinner at 301
