“Days Inn”

The Days Inn was selected for its low price and it proved to be adequate for my needs. The room was relatively clean and comfortable enough but like most places that are lower price the wear and tear of years of use show. This is not a great hotel that has just discounted the price for the night to fill the extra rooms. It is an older motel that is priced accordingly. I would definately choose to stay there again if I needed to watch my budget.

“No Fun at Days Inn”

Had bad luck to occupy adjoining room next to noisy neighbors who enjoyed watching "adult videos" at high volumes on the second night :-o Would have switched rooms but baby somehow slept through their "video" so was not going to move us all. Also, light came pouring in the front DOOR, which was really weird, came from under and sides like the door wasn't sealed -- had to jam towels into cracks to seal. The service was good, got extra blanket when asked, room was very clean. Overall, bad sleeping though!

“4-day weekend minivacation”

I obtained the reservation at Days Inn Arcata through the Expedia website. The motel provides 3-star accommodations for a competitive rate. Although brochures regarding area activities and nearby interesting/scenic spots were available in the lobby, the staff wasn't knowledgeable about area roads, restaurant locations, etc. Our room was on the first floor and readily accessible from the on-site parking lot.The room was comfortable and satisfactorily maintained. A few amenities were included(coffee maker, iron w/ironing board,mini- refigerator,Tv with cable service). Although internet service was available only in the lobby area, the speed was excellent and a printer provided. Continental breakfast(pastries, fresh fruit, cereal, milk, juice) was complimentary in the rear lobby area;an on-site restaurant (which we did not use) was also available for limited hours. Across the street from the motel,a shopping center provided additional eateries(a family casual restaurant,a Chinese buffet,a pizza joint) and other retail(Dollar Tree, chain pharmacy) . The motel location is ideal for easy highway access(U.S. Route 101 and CA highway 299) and for exploring Humboldt County and the Redwood National/State parks. The famed "Avenue of the Giants" is about 30 minutes south and the Oregon border about an hour north. Be sure to visit old town part of Eureka;farmer's market offers fresh produce/fruits.

“There are other options”

Te room was clean. THe staff was nice. The TV remote did not work and the w/c water was running; they could not remedy the situations. After prepaying through Expedia, with that acknowledged at check-in, I was billed again after I left. It took two calls and several days to reverse the charges.

“Decent hotel but lacing in the quality details”

My room was probably typical. The top of the shower had mold growing along th edge, but my guess is the housekeepers were too small to see the mold. The shower head had a leak at the junction of the fixture - the leak spraying water all over - and the only way to stem the leak was to put a washcloth over the leak. Overall I would give 2.5 to 3.0 stars.

“worked for us”

Not a bad hotel, convenient for us. Carpet needs replacing. Computer was out of order, had to go off-site to print out boarding passes.

“Bland, and sparse”

We will never stay at this hotel again..nothing was memorable, just basic room and bed. Very very small bathrooms.

“Not impressed”

We decided to stay at this hotel passing through on our way up North. We got there late and the front desk staff seemed annoyed at having to help us. When we got to our room, we noticed that the garbage had not been taken out from the previous occupants, and there were beer bottles and pizza boxes next to the garbage under the sink. The shower had not been cleaned; there was still soap and an open shampoo sitting in the shower. The towels had been replaced, and beds made, so I'm not sure why it wasn't finished. The room itself was drafty and dank; definitely the type of place you don't want to walk around in barefoot. The door leading to the hall let in a lot of light and the sounds of every person passing. We were looking for something inexpensive just for one night when we were passing through, but I didn't think this one would be nearly as bad as it was. I would recommend paying an extra $30 and going to a place where you can at least take off your shoes - we wish we did!
