Overpriced and not secure for solo sleepers

I checked in after 4 pm but did not go up to my room as my daughter and her dog were with me. We went and visited with my son and I alone went back to the hotel around midnight. There seems to be quite a homeless community that surrounds this location and the elevator to the rooms is not quite secure. I got to my room and found the sliding door wide with no screen. It was freezing in the room. Very outdated and old building and the room had no plug covers. The heater is a radiant type on the floor with controls on the wall for heat. Took 4 hours for the room to warm up and then it got too hot and couldn't cool it off without opening the sliding door again which I wouldn't do as I was alone. The remote didn't work because the batteries were dead. The electrical outlet on the desk lamp did not work. The matress was lumpy and hard and the sheets had stains on them. Not what I was used to in Days Inn. I usually love Days Inn because you get waffles in the morning however I don't believe this one was worth the price I had to pay. I believe that it was worth about half of what I paid.

Financial disappointment

Pros: The courteous staff.
A friend had planned to accompany two of us and became very ill, so only two actually stayed in our room. The desk clerk was very kind, but explained he couldn't repay me because I had been billed by Expedia. I do hope that there is a way to get a refund. I have used Expedia before, but this situation hasn't come up. It makes me hesitant to use Expedia again.

Quick and easy

Pros: clean
Location: black lightning coffee shop just a block away had a great coffee and unique atmosphere.
I called Expedia and booked this hotel within 15 minutes of arriving. The check in was smooth, free internet was easy, the continental breakfast was vast and the streets outside were quiet. The room was nice, fluffy bedding and clean. A really nice stay.

Very nice budget hotel! Was visiting my niece for three days and this was a good place to work out of. It was clean, comfortable,and offered a cgood continental breakfast each morning. It was right on 101, but set back so you did not hear the traffic. The neighborhood right around the hotel was not great, but it was very close to nicer areas a tourist would want to visit.
