What can you expect for $55/night?

Posted Mar 29, 2014
Pros: The staff, and the price.
Cons: Pet deposit, rather than an extra fee per night. Since my dog is very clean, it annoys me to pay extra for cleaning that's not required.
Location: See the redwoods, beaches, Humboldt State University and cities of Trinidad and Ferndale. The Sat Farmer's Market in Arcata is also a must see.
The hotel is located in between two main highway sections and is as noisy as you'd expect in this location. There is no charm to this hotel, but if you travel with pets and are in a pinch, it could be worse, though pets are an extra $10/night per pet. My husband and I stayed one night, the room was clean, and came with a microwave and small refrigerator. With the exception of the shower tub not draining properly - who doesn't love standing in 8" of water while showering? - everything worked in the room. On a positive note, the desk clerk was very nice and accommodating in giving us a more expensive room, for the same price, in the center of the hotel when we asked for the quietest room on the first floor.

Nothing special

Posted Feb 19, 2014
Pros: We didn't really like anything about the hotel. The girl playing video games started thing off to a bad start.
Cons: Take away the Internet from the front desk. Counter person should at least look busy. Not just playing games for more than 20 minutes while we waite
We arrived at 1pm. Could not check in until 2. The girl behind the counter was playing video games. We had to wait to see if any rooms were clean. The whole time she was playing games. The front office was not very clean. Her time could have been better spent dusting. The room was not very clean. The heater was very noisy. The pool was locked. We had to watch kids breaking in to see how to get in. We will not be staying there again.

What I expected

Posted Jan 8, 2014
EconoLodge was pretty much how I expected it to be. Everything was ok but not great, but that's what you pay for. There is some food around and the city centre is about ten minutes (walking) away. The "breakfast" was a coffee machine and some muffins.

Bad area but good room

Posted Nov 4, 2013
No problems with staff or room. The area isn't the greatest. Is 15 min walk to nice co-op and right off 101. Good room bad location

Nasty room......

Posted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
The carpet was nasty, room stunk, shower did not work well and the hotel itself needs to be updated. Never again.
