Was sorely disappointed in the fact that the restaurant & bar were falsely advertised! Said there was a full restaurant & bar with pool table.. Not true! Had a very small bar with few food selections.. NO pool table or jukebox, atmosphere was lame. As for the full restaurant & room service it did now exist. :(

Pros: Clean and friendly service. Pet friendly.
Location: Already did that-State parks and beaches.Redwoods.
The restaurant has horrible service and is in the bar. This is not pleasing for families! Also, the order was not right and we had to ask several times for the right order. The food took TOO long and they didn't seem to know what they were doing. Either get a REAL restaurant, or get rid of it!!

Reservation not honored.

Pros: Hotel staff provided a roll away bed.
Cons: The hotel could have offered some sort of amend for not honoring the reservation.
Location: Close to the beach and the redwoods.
We had three guests and upon check in, our room only had one queen bed. The hotel staff indicated that they had no other room available.

Not so great room in refurbished old hotel

Pros: The room was inexpensive, which some would say negates all the above comments. I disagree.
Cons: The maid could have CLEANED the room!
Location: The hotel is right on Highway 101: not the most attractive part of Eureka. My advice is that you instead get a hotel in the renovated old town.
This old hotel is supposed to be all nonsmoking, but the minute you open the door to the room, you can smell the old smoke of years ago: I know this is hard to eliminate, but paired with the ugly view of the roof (and the only natural light we could get in the room was to open the curtains to this), that there was only ONE comfortable chair in the room, and that our room was not even vacuumed from the first day to the second...hmm. Not so swell. Also, for some very odd reason, this room (209) VIBRATED most of the first night: I don't know what it was over or next to or under that was causing it, but it was sort of disconcerting when I could feel it in bed....

Pros: The mattress was very comfortable, perhaps the highlight of the stay. It seemed pretty quiet, too.
Cons: The lobby could use some updating, perhaps a nice place to sit. And where was the restaurant?
Location: Downtown is a short drive away and appears to have been restored recently. It had a nice feel to it and we ate a nice dinner at The Waterfront Cafe.
We were here only overnight for business and this hotel had been recommended to us as being very nice. We never did quite find the restaurant, but did have an after dinner drink at the bar, which was good. The hotel seems to be showing it's age, somewhat dated.

Pros: Beds
Cons: Needs a remodel
Expected more considering it was not a deal. Beds were fine, but it was not very well appointed. No room service. Looks a little run down. No end table next to chair for morning coffee drinking/paper reading. Decent, but for the money I'm sure there was a better hotel to stay at in Eureka.

Pros: Bath, free itnernet, fridge, microwave, DOG FRIENDLY!
Location: My dog Bitsy and I We found a beautiful walkway down across the railroad by the water.
The Red Lion has everything I like in a hotel, besides the great price

Had to bring our dogs on our trip. This hotel is dog friendly. There were quite a few pets there and the workers were always friendly. The rooms were very nice and didn't smell like dogs or animals. I will definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.
