Traveling with small dog

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: The desk clerk was helpful with setting up the TV remote. She checked on someone who was sitting in the parking lot near sundown.
Cons: There should be a warning about smoking and non-smoking rooms.
Location: Beautiful ocean and redwood trees plus viewings of elk!
We knew that we were booking a budget motel. We had requested a non-smoking room, and we have a ten-pound dog that is crated at night. There was smoke residue in the air of the room, and the bed linens smelled of cigarette smoke. Very disappointing. We were very tired from traveling and did not want to change to another motel once we had unpacked.

Super 8 Arcata

Posted Sep 9, 2014
I reserved this hotel because it was only 56.00 a night. You do get what you pay for but we were only there to sleep and gone during the day anyway. If you are looking for a cheap hotel that is reasonably clean and comfortable, this is the hotel for you. No frills but worth the 56.00.

took friends to North Coast

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: clean sheets and food in the morning.
Cons: the water faucets in room 131 were so difficult that when one pulled hard enough to get water, there was a gush that sometimes got clothes wet.
Location: good location to explore coast north of there, starting with breakfast at Trinidad harbor.
been to this location of Super 8 a number of times, still like it.

I did take this hotel because there weren't more choices. As soon you get into the hotel the cigaret and other smokable things hits you right into your nose, the hallway carpets had seen better days, now are filthy and I guess their color is totally different than they were originally. This only when you get in the hotel forget about the rooms and attention of their employes

Good place for a basic sleep

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: Easy access, reasonable value.
Cons: Keycard didn't work in outside security door. Breakfast selections minimal little seating available.
Location: Near Humbolt State University.
Been here before . . . nicely kept up, fast food nearby.

Too much noise and light

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: clean
Cons: better drapes and motel security to keep the noise down
Location: near Arcata and beaches
The noise of the other guests was out of control. People outside the building must have thought no one was INSIDE the building (this was all hours of the night!) ! The curtains were not adequate to keep the room dark enough to sleep. Two nights stay - no nights of sleep!

Good 2 star hotel

Posted Aug 1, 2014
Pros: Clean room, quiet
Cons: No wifi in the room, asked about it, was told it was reset, still had to go to the lobby for wifi. TVs are old tube type with snowy, split signal
Location: My family was visiting the Redwoods, then headed to Redding, hotel was close to freeways for both.
Good 2 star hotel, small breakfast each morning, close to restaurants, stores and both 101 and 299. Wifi didn't work in the room, had to go to the lobby to use.
